Couch to 5k Running - Part Three

That sounds like a good idea, I keep telling dd that it is more about not stopping than anything else. So well done on not giving up :j
We did our second run of week 2 today, dd really struggled with it to the point of being in tears by the end. I'm so proud of her as she refused to give in. I think we need to change the route as we are running through a fell which is like forest thick and most of it up steep hills. I think we need level ground.Life is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -
Hello can I play?
I've just done my first run of week 1 and I'm very very pleased I managed it
I've done a fair amount of walking (on & off road, as it were) over the last few years but I want to try and get fitter so I'm less out of breath when I get to the top of a mountain!
I hope to be up to the 5k by the time I turn 53 in September.
Can anyone recommend a good replacement for Asics gel Asperatus trainers? My 3rd pair are starting to fall apart and they don't make them any more
I'm looking forward to this

Well done rosy:j
Dd has asics galaxy gel, we paid about 25 for them from sports direct if that helps.Life is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -
Well done Pink and dd for carrying on even though she felt soo bad! Very impressed. :-)
Well done to Rosy too - keep up the good work!
I haven't been able to do anything this week due to work commitments so will try and get a run in at the weekend and hopefully next week things will be back on track!2019, move forward with positivity! I am the opposite of Eyeore :rotfl:0 -

Impressed by DD, good for her

Hello everyone, this is my first post in this thread.
I've been doing interval for a couple of years (on and off). When I first started I couldn't run for more than 30 seconds at a time without puffing and panting. I then progressed to 1 minute run/1 minute walk intervals for about a year or so.
A few weeks ago I decided to try the c25k challenge; I did the first two weeks but then skipped some training days as I was feeling good. Today I've just run 20 minutes all in one go. I've never run that far before, ever! I do ache a bit though but so glad I've got through it.
Just one thing concerns me and that is the distance, although I've run for 20 minutes the distance isn't anywhere near 5k, will that build up over time as I improve.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End

Well done everyone:j
I think pace will come with time, I know we are covering more ground on each run/walk.
No run today but we ran yesterday which was our last run of week two. Went well and strangely looking forward to week three. Remind me I said that when I'm in agony :rotfl:Life is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -
I've just started doing this, I've tried it before and never got past week one due to one thing or another. I did week 2 run 2 last night.
My husbands passed a cold on to me, I have hayfever, so I was constantly sneezing, my eyes were all red and then the top of my knees were really hurting by the end of the run, I ended up resembling more of a zombie by the end of it, not the new running type either, the old fashioned limping type!
However my next run will be Monday, so I've got time to recover hopefully.0 -
Well done bunny, it's great that you could even try to run when feeling like that.
I did laugh at the thought of an old limping zombie :rotfl:
We did run one of week three today, very suprised how easy we found it. No harder than week two really. Maybe this could be because we have moved to flat ground. Or maybe we are getting a bit fitter also. We recover much quicker now as well.Life is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -
We are going running again today, really determined to push ourselves. My beautiful nephews lost their mum yesterday aged only 45, can't stop crying but determined to get healthier so that my children don,t have to go through this for a long time to come. And so I am around for my nephews for longer.
My husband is coming running as well. Give those you love a hug, you don't know what life will bring xLife is short, smile while you still have teeth0
