Hmm, last reset Usage stats as was off abroad (painfully had to use 10MB whilst abroad ... £30 bill there ... gah!) ... so since 21/05 .. 681MB of cellular data. That's before I am going to start spanking the network with background tasks. And four of those days were abroad and only 10MB.

So, my guesstimate is that I will use at least 1300MB a month, and I would start to think about increasing this by anywhere between 25-50% due to background tasks (although doubtful there will be many available at launch, it's just Spotify I really want).

Right, so that is pretty much ruling it out for me for now.

(Just checked my bills, yes, 1.3GB is about the average monthly usage right now).

So what do you use the 1.3Gb on? Just trying to get an idea of what usage would use this much.

Just normal stuff, emails, check various sites order stuff, google maps etc, I try to avoid youtube and flash sites unless I am in a wifi are as they tend to eat up bandwidth which is one reason I am glad ipad and iphone dont run it as I have seen people go on flash sites a lot and find they have gone well over the limit in a short time. the key generally is if it loads quick it aint going to use much and dont forget most phones also have wifi so this for me is great as virtualy the whole of the central part of the main town is a free wifi area. I tend to find I get pretty good speeds, mind you the whole island has 100% coverage with a 3G/ HSPA network which does around 7.2Mbps download and 1.4Mbps upload speeds, this I believe is soon to be upgraded a lot higher as we are being used as a test bed for the next network system.

I will listen to internet radio for matches, my email is on push, I may send and download images. I use the facebook app and twitter also.
I was busy viewing houses with Right move etc, flickr to check out photos we'd taken of houses. Check the Guardian app for news etc ...

At the end of the day, we're using a hell of a lot more data, and this will only increase. True I may use more than the majority, but that's the way I want to use it, and a cost restriction will only make me consider my carrier a little harder. I will have to wait until December before my 18 months is up, but at least I can choose a better carrier than O2 (couple of huge dead zones at Clapham Junction and Wimbledon).

Mostly, I use my phone with WiFi at work and at home, but when out and about still heavily use. I guess it'd make me think twice about updating software on the go though.

Not sure why my usage jumped from ~ 600MB to 1.3GB at around Christmas .. oh wait, yes I do. I got a job and spend more time commuting, reading the news etc ...

Just imagine if I tethered my laptop to a jailbroken phone ...

No, download only. (As far as I am aware).

I`m not impressed with the data restriction. My contract runs out in August, so I`ll see what other companies are offering.

They Pay as you Go one seems to very expensive. Will have to think it over now.
