Thanks for the replies about my wi fi problem. I have tried entering the password in capitals and still no luck with the wi fi connection on the IPhone 4 so still cannot try facetime. Do I need to go onto the wireless router settings page and change anything there? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

I think you may need to reboot your iPhone. Try holding the top button and home button down at the same time and counting to 10, then once the screen comes back up, start again.

Otherwise, give Apple a call. It's probably something really stupid that none of us can think of!!

    Hi all few questions.

Yesterday whilst I was updating my apps and downloading ibooks in my car. I got my friend to call me, and my iphone won't call when I was doing that or on the net it seems? Have I got something set up wrong?

Another question is how do I stop it keeping me up all night bing bonging with facebooj updates?

Last one, the signal, it doesnt seem to be very good for the net on 02. Whats the circle thing mean? Is that GPRS like the net says? If so which icon should I be seeing for the proper strong signal?

    Thanks for your help :)
  • You should be looking for "3G" for a good internet signal. Don't update Apps when in your car - you only have 500Mb of download per month and you'll use the whole lot very quickly if you are not careful. Far better to update your PC and sync your iPhone or use wifi to do the updates.

When your phone is using the internet, it's either using wifi (when you're in range) or the mobile network. It may be that you're unable to download and talk on the mobile network at the same time (can't say I've ever tried). Try setting up call waiting on your phone so that if someone calls you it will notify you. You should then be able to switch to the call and as soon as you've finished, the internet should restart.

I think you can change the access to "push notifications" for facebook in "settings".

Or just try putting the phone on silent. :p

  • "CanalMX, a Mexican based tech site, is quoting an executive at Mexican carrier Telcel as telling them that Apple will release a revised version of the iPhone 4 by the end of September to address the highly-publicized antenna issue.

According to Marco Quatorze - Telcel's director of Value Added Services - through the wonders of Google Translation, the iPhone 4 sold currently in Mexico will at first be the same hardware as that sold in the US as you would expect. However Quatorze then, according to the site, detailed that a new device that does not have the "malfunction of the reception" would be introduced." http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/35299/new-iphone-4-for-october

For anyone who is good at languages, this is what Senor Quatorze said...

This is what Google Translate made of it...
He also said that as of September 30 Telcel will be available in new devices that do not have the malfunction of the reception and explained that the company will have several options to make changes from one phone to another flawed not to take: "If the previous plan is over, you will need to hire a new change for iPhone 4. If, for example, already has one and take three months for payment, change the cell with a re-employment and takes into account the previous time, so instead of paying 24 months, only done in 21. "

I have done this and no joy. Where would I begin to find a number to ring Apple?
Also I admit I am not very informed about new technology so perhaps this is a silly question. As I still can't get my iphone to get on my wireless network in my home, am I perhaps in a geographic area where my iphone4 isn't supported to do that? It does have 3g showing in top left corner but not the waves symbol. When it shows the 3g does this mean I can get on the internet or do I have to have the wireless waves to be able to do that? Thanks for your help.

Have you been able to get on to any wifi network? Take a visit to McDonalds and buy a 99p drink. Sit down and try to connect to the wifi in there (it's free).

If you can't get connected, it's your phone that's the problem. If you can, then it's your own wifi router that needs to be looked at.

Let us know the outcome and we can try to talk you through any changes needed to your router if that's the issue.

Some routers need to be put into pairing mode to work e.g. the Orange Livebox.
