I have checked in settings - the Wi-Fi is ON, the choose network has a tick by it, I have entered the password. However next to the signal bars and the word orange is the words 3g. There is no set of 3 waves next to the word orange. This makes me think it is not on the wi fi. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with my network or settings as I really would like to try face time. Many thanks.
if it says 3g then no its not on wifi.
it needs to have the little lines for it to show on wifi then it will let you do facetime0 -

I agree - check you have entered the correct password for the wifi network. It may be that you need to use UPPERCASE letters instead. In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0 -

I managed to get my hands on a iPhone 4 and have to say the antenna issues are for real. Dropped 5 times in a 20 min call for me, and that's without doing the death grip. The death grip eventually leads from '3G' with about 3 bars to 'searching...'
Also has the proximity issue(which apparently will be fixed with update.)
Shame really as otherwise it's would have been excellent. Mulling over whether to get the free bumper or just get a different make, though I like the iphone OS.0 -
I've had loads of issues with my phone but its looking like its Sim Card related. However i cant praise Orange Iphone help department enough, they have been very helpful in getting the issue sorted.
Just wish Carphone Warehouse were as good!0 -

I suggest taking it back to Apple and seeing if they willswap, I really haven't known anyone personally thats had any problems with reception.0 -
"CanalMX, a Mexican based tech site, is quoting an executive at Mexican carrier Telcel as telling them that Apple will release a revised version of the iPhone 4 by the end of September to address the highly-publicized antenna issue.
According to Marco Quatorze - Telcel's director of Value Added Services - through the wonders of Google Translation, the iPhone 4 sold currently in Mexico will at first be the same hardware as that sold in the US as you would expect. However Quatorze then, according to the site, detailed that a new device that does not have the "malfunction of the reception" would be introduced." http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/35299/new-iphone-4-for-octoberbubblesmoney :hello:0 -

I do have my doubts about this. Apple have just done a u-turn over the design of the iPod Shuffle, so they are willing to update and change. The new design of the iPod Touch and the fact that for once it doesn't look as much like the same generation iPhone could be an indication that Apple are looking at a re-design, but I simply can't see that they would release it this soon after their big "music event".
Perhaps we can look forward to "iPhone 4G" or "iPhone HD" early in the new year. I'll be happy to be proved wrong. In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0 -

Odd! I've had my iPhone 4 for about a month now and I've had no reception or proximity problems whatsoever!0
