I personally think you would be scammed if you sold one on eBay...0

I wouldn't take much notice of the stock finder for O2, its better to ring around your local stores as my locals were showing none in stock but when I rang them they said that they had loads of them.0

Got through confirmation saying I should receive one in three weeks, an invoice etc showing costs of 28 pounds etc etc
However my card has not been billed, nor is it showing in my transactions not cleared (it has been three working days + 2 weekend days since the order).
Apple website still shows delivery as Aug 11th and cost as £28 odd quid
Hopefully apple will be sending me one free of charge now and have just not charged me but I'm not sure whether or not I am getting one now...
i thought they were putting a form on the apple site to claim your free case and you dont just go and buy one?0 -
How can you be scammed if its done through paypal to a paypal eligble sending address. You are covered if anything went wrong.
The only way you are not covered is if you sent it with no tracking.
I think if there is a chargeback to the card used (for example, if the card used was stolen) then you could lose out. Also, the buyer could claim the item is faulty or damaged etc.
I took the risk and sold my first handset on eBay. I didn't buy with the intention to profit, but it was an opportunity I couldn't afford to miss. I sold to a confirmed PayPal user/address for added protection but I knew there was always an element of risk. I finally got hold of a handset today after waiting almost 4 weeks. I quickly opened it to set it up so I wouldn't be tempted to turn a quick buck again!0 -

Have a look for a cheap bumper until you can get a real one from Apple. Here's a quick link (clicky) to one I found on eBay. It's not the cheapest, but it does give you the screen protectors too and they say they are UK based so shipping should be quick.
Note: I'm not linked in any way to the people on eBay - it was just the first bumper that came up on my search.
Hi, thanks for your help. I got this last night http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003SGFZSU/ref=oss_product - it cost me £3.49 delivered and will be with me tomorrow.
It probably gives no drop protection but I just need a temporary solution to prevent scratches, until my Bodyguardz Screen protectors that I've ordered arrive.
I'm also waiting until August for the Tech21 d3O iBand for iPhone 4. Looks like a really strong bumper, although I'm really not sure whether to get a bumper or a full case. I do want protection for the back, definitely, but I've read the bumper is 'protruded' so it falls, the back won't come into contact with the ground.
It's either between the Tech21 or the Otterbox Defender for me, the latter takes away from the beauty of the phone but provides full on protection.
Any thoughts?0 -

I'm sure they will, but demand will outstrip supply in this one and I want one!! Why not just order one and guarantee what you want?
As it stands I'm willing to bet I get my bumper a damn sight quicker than anyone who goes through the free route.
I also have just recieved an email from apple informing me my bumper is now free with free p+p. Quite chuffed with my call on this one : )"I don't want to sound cold and un-caring, but I am those things so that's the way it comes out" - Bill Hicks0 -

Yep, so many ways to be scammed. Even AVForums classified lists that iPhones are the number 1 scammer and thief target.
Why folk would play and and in some cases risk £800 odd pounds for desperation to get a phone that you could pick up for less with a bit of patience is beyond me. Then again that is probably why I'm on this site!0 -

I agree with above...but paypal now have measures in place to prevent this...I sold one last week and pymt was put on hold untilpaypal checked for stolen card etc.....over 24 hours before stating OK to send thus.....Stating....IF anything went wrong I the seller was fully covered to receive full pymt regardless as long as the address i sent to was the eligible paypal address.0 -

Okay so what happens when the buyer opens up a dispute with Paypal claiming that the package you sent them contained an empty box?
Paypal protects you against chargebacks, and insurance protects you against damage in transit, but in this case you would have to refund the buyer, get a block on the IMEI and take up the "empty box" with Apple or maybe the police if it turns out the phone had been used...
