Haha I love all these people who are seething about the iphone, they must be searching the internet trying to find any article that makes the iphone look bad. Then they most likely get all excited and post it here when they have found it. Well seethers I have the iphone 4 and it's the best phone i've ever had ;) and it doesn't give me no problems at all but i'm sure you's will continue to ignore all the people who say it gives them no problems and continue to look for negative things to post on here about it.
The jealousy must be eating you's up inside because you's don't have an iphone 4 :)

I could go out and buy an iphone(or most other phones tomorrow)
    no jealousy from me
im out of contract right now
infact i have been musing over an iphone for a while
however i make educated buying choices
and for me,only a fool would buy now when theres the chance there could be a hardware issue
so am i jealous of fools? no

I disagree with you on this one. I think Apple have used their usual smoke and mirrors to avoid telling people what the real problem is. I think the maths issue is something that could be contributing to the problem, but not the actual cause.

You will know from this forum that many people are saying that they do not experience the problem with the signal dropping off and I'm pretty confident that if you mapped out their locations, you'd find the majority of iPhone users in their area also are problem free (with the ones who do complain being people who move from one signal area to another).

If, as expected, the main problem is caused by the software that detects and changes the frequency, there will be areas where putting your finger/thumb across the bars has little or no effect (the frequency change is not the "killer" one) and others where it causes significant issues. This would also explain why 3G users suddenly experienced the problem of dropping signals after updating to iOS4.

I expect that the reason iOS4.0.1 (or whatever they number it as) will take a couple of weeks is to allow them to correct and test the frequency issue. The maths problem has probably already been fixed.

I know there were a large number of "expect"s in that post, but until the release comes out, we're not going to know whether it does or doesn't work.

Now can we PLEASE talk about something else?

You raise a very good point. People moving from one cell to the next may see different signal drops and increase dependant on phone and network.

iphones 4 will be the same but the problem with the way you hold it in some cases makes the problem worse. If the update doesn't solve it then Apple will have to get back to the drawing table and look at it again.

I am glad you are enjoying your phone and that it is the best phone you have ever had.
As comments about the iphone, both good and bad, are all over the place one hardly has to search for them.

Are loads of people on here seething?
I am not. I don't have an iphone and neither do I want one as it is not the phone for me.

However if I was buying a premium product at a premium price I would expect it to be fault free, and if that is not the case then I would expect an admission of the fault, a fix or my money back.

To be fair it is not just Apple who sometimes have issues owning up to problems, there is a well know Japanese manufacturer of both professional and domestic goods who has been know to ignore design faults until threatened with litigation.

    LOL!!!!! Are you serious?!?!

So I take it you'll never ever buy a car, or a computer, or anything technical?

There's always a chance!?!?! And anyway the issue isn't even a show stopper?

Damn this forum has some funny posters.

just so you know, this! works fine
    no need for !!!!!!

now lets quantify what i said
at this point there is a reported chance there is a hardware fault on the Iphone, yes?
Apple is saying its software but its still not 100%,yes?
they have offered a 30 day return on iphones but give no set time that the solution will be offered

thats not the same as saying i will never buy any item incase theres a fault
hell i own a 360,so that proves it

interesting you see the chance of a phone with poor signal reception as not being a 'show stopper'
wouldnt i buy an Ipod touch if that was the case?

Did you not read apples response?

The phone does not have poor signal reception *sigh*

This media storm has created a frenzy.. it's ridiculous. Everyone who owns the phone is fine with it! The people that aren't just expect perfection from everything..

There is NOTHING wrong with the phones signal lol! Ok so there are less bars when you wrap your hand around the bottom of the device and press.... The signal doesnt change.

Once again - Why would the 3G/3GS show the same problem with the new IOS? Please explain that to me...

I'm so sick of this same topic going over and over... Really can people not talk about anything else? This threads been ruined by people just picking and going over and over the same bad points..

OK, we KNOW there is something possibly wrong which Apple have said will be fixed - Whats more to be said? Move the **** on please! Ty :T:T:T

This media storm has created a frenzy.. it's ridiculous. Everyone who owns the phone is fine with it! Have you spoken to everyone who owns one? What about the people who are pursuing the legal cases in the USA are they happy with it?The people that aren't just expect perfection from everything..And these will be people who don't own the phone I assume?

There is NOTHING wrong with the phones signal lol! Ok so there are less bars when you wrap your hand around the bottom of the device and press.... The signal doesnt change. So why does the call drop in some cases?

    Stop arguing them then

There is something wrong, not possibly, as Apple have now admitted a fault. What their fix is and whether it will solve the problem is yet to be seen, but I do hope so.

I do have the iphone 4 and do love most of it but I am concerned about the signal issues.

If there is no signal issue why does this happen then?

Results made with SpeedTest app and Wi-Fi turned off (using it at home)

Laid flat with no-one touching it

    1.06Mbps download 1.58Mbps upload

Holding it normally in left hand

    0.01Mbps download 0.00Mbps upload

Holding it in left hand with Zagg cloth around it

    0.07MBps download 0.00Mbps upload

Holding it in right hand normally

    0.58Mbps download 0.82Mbps upload
