iPhone '4' thread

I too have been watching this thread with great interest.
Been looking at purchasing an iPhone was going to get the 3gs and decided to wait for the 4g. However, since the issues with the reception I have kind of been put off.
I am worried that the main issue is a design fault and not a software fix. How would we ever know though.
Kind if thinking to go back to getting the 3gs but always like the latest kit.
What should I do. Money in my pocket, but I have a burning sensation to spend it.:D0 -
Smithers, wait and get the 4g. I too got the money waiting, but just wait and it will be worth it in the end!0

I have told different accounts from telephone staff throughout and some staff have even accused others of lying to me. I have however also been in contact with a lady working for TescoDirect since friday and her version ( she seemed genuine) is quite different. She was told that the problem they were encountering was their system had a security overide to stop multiple sales in the phone shop. This kicked in at £500 which apparently covers the single iphone , with previous phones this had not been a problem. On Friday she was told they might be able to fix it on Monday, meanwhile we all encountered the fiasco on Saturday. She called me today to let me know that they had not got the system running (i.e no phones sold) and it would not happen for a couple of weeks. As i say she seems genuine but I do doubt they had any in stock to sell over the telephone. I have not seen a post as yet saying otherwise.
Similar story to what i was told
I was contacted Friday by a Tesco Mobile Supervisor who said that the system would be back up at 10 o clock Saturday but they would phone me between 8.00 and 10.00 (almost like they had held the previously cancelled orders over)
No Phonecall but was contacted at 12.00 and told my order was being honoured and someone would contact me Monday and the phone delivered on Tuesday no phonecall by this afternoon
Rang them, system still down, so they say, and i will be contacted once its up and running
To be honest i really do not know what is going on and neither do they it appears.
Somethings not right
Not heard of one person yet having successfully bought one over the phone so the story could be true.
Its a mystery!!0 -

Apple are apparantly due to release a software update to fix the issue. It might be with waiting until next week to see if it works or not.0 -
I got an iPhone on Orange at the w/end but the signal was non-existant so I'm sending it back under DSR. I believe Orange have a returns policy anyway.
I received another one today and the envelope with the Vodafone sim in it had a sticker on the front stating that if you used the sim then you waived your rights under the DSR.
Which kinda proves the point.
The DSR rules are unclear, different companies are interpreting them in different ways, they need clarification but it's not happening.0 -

Agreed, the point of the DSR is to allow you the same opportunity to view the product that you would get in a shop. Some companies will refuse a DSR return if the packaging has been opened. Perhaps they expect you to use an x-ray scanner to view the item.0 -

Tesco announced they would be selling the iPhone 4 on a 12 month contract from Thursday. Probably one of the best deals around. You had to call as not available online (although some stores had limited stock too).
People tried calling but couldn't get through. When they did they were told that the systems were down and wouldn't be up until the following day and to call back. People were apparently told that there was 'plenty of stock' and that they would not run out.
Friday morning and Tesco started taking orders but orders later got cancelled due to system problems. People were then told to call back the following day. Some people were told that they would be called back.
On the Saturday people were told that the systems were down and that they should call back later at midday.
By 12:10 all the phones had apparently sold out leading people to believe that there was in fact, no stock.
There also has been an issue with the Tesco have not been forthcoming with information (like on their website).
Fab bit of nutshelling (although it still makes depressing reading)!0 -
