The best (and only good place) I can think of for getting a cheap iPhone is hoping some idiot has sold one to one of those cash-generator type places at a huge loss and not bought it back. e-bay is over-inflated and iPhone prices seem to remain stagnant because there has never been a price cut.
Even places like CEX sell second hand ones for £415 for a mint condition 16g 3GS, only £85 less than the iPhone 4 and £35 less than a brand new 3GS!0 -

The problem with that is it would be that the phone could still be under contract and "locked" if the idiot has tried to report it as stolen and claim off their insurance. In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0 -

Just like buying any phone second hand! E-Bay, gumtree, CEX would all have the same problem.0 -
Oscar I hope that's correct..
As djrobmac rightly said earlier.. how much faith do we place in Customer Service inquiries?
So far we have a call to Orange CS saying no to microsims for existing contracts.. and your transcript saying yes for O2.
I just want to be clear in that I believe we will all end up with microsims eventually, I'm just skeptical that networks will freely send out microsims to replace existing sims without using the opportunity to pull more revenue from us.. (ie via handsets, contracts or topups)0 -

eBay + Paypal+Distance Selling Regulations means that you would at least get your money back.In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0 -

This has been well discussed on this thread
The solution is to go with the O2 simplicity deal NOW (unlimited data) and just get the iPhone PAYG
Thanks for the advice but I'm already on the £20 Iphone Simplicity deal with 30 day rolling contract. I see the new Simplicity deals don't offer unlimited data either.
Do you think I should change to a 12 month contract now as technically I guess they can revise the terms every 30 days if they want??
Thanks for any assistance.;)0 -
Bearing in mind its always a risk to buy on ebay or over the net. And its used, I wouldnt want to part with no more than £200 for a 8gb model. For a fine example one.
ebays ok if you look at high seller rating and theyre previous
you might get one for 200 when the iphone 4 is officially out atm ive seen alot of 16gb go for 300 on thereWhat goes around-comes around0 -
Yea which I think when it gets to £300 for a used phone, I would personally rather pay extra for a brand new phone, worry free for the extra £200 the new one is better. I changed to the 02 12 month deal today too.
Anyone know how much a 1st gen ipod touch would go for? 16gb, hardly used!
I do hope the iphone is a lot faster and more responsive touch screen as I never got on with my ipod touch!0 -
