iPhone '4' thread

ooh fight on the thread!
one thing that doesnt make sense street is that theyre not tieing you into anything unless i misunderstood the term sim free?
Apples iPhones are sim free.. but if you get a phone from Orange it is locked to their network. (It can be unlocked but at a cost)
To use your sim free phone you need a microsim from a network provider. Sure they'll sell you a new contract or PAYG sim... but we are debating whether the networks will send you a replacement microsim to replace people on existing contracts.0 -
ROFL I wonder what Streeet thinks of "As a new or existing customer choosing an iPhone 4, you'll need to use a new micro sim"
Don't tell me, Orange are not going to be doing the same
Is it me or does every line on those instructions start:
"Purchase your new iPhone 4 from O2"
Calm down dear!0 -
Nooooo, I have ordered the phone direct from apple, so how am I going to use it, looks like it will be scissors for me, it`ll be my luck that I damage the sim in the process.0

I may be wrong but I believe apple are also offering to provide a micro sim for various providers with the phone if requestedApproach her; adore her. Behold her; worship her. Caress her; indulge her. Kiss her; pleasure her. Kneel to her; lavish her. Assert to her; let her guide you. Obey her as you know how; Surrender is so wonderful! For Caroline my Goddess.0

I have been reading this thread with much interest over the last few days and thought I'd just add something about the new micro sim on o2.
From the images and instructions on their website, it is clear that a micro sim is simply the current sim with less plastic around it. I would think that in order to be cost efficient, the mobile phone providers would be thinking about producing new sim cards in this way so that it doesn't matter whether your phone has a normal sim or a micro sim.
Just a thought0 -

Finally some sensible thoughts! Yes, I believe the same thing. All sim's will be produced in this way in the near futureHardcore moneysaver0 -
Orange have released their prices.
The cheapest tariff you can have a free iPhone 4 on is £75 a month. What a joke! Especially considering it's only £480 on pay as you go. So if you buy a payg one and a sim only for £15 a month, this will only cost £35 a month for a free iPhone 4.0 -

That does make sense although I don't know how the saving on plastic around the sim compares to the adapter required for standard sim phones.
Strategically it would be easier for a network to renew peoples sims at the next contract renewal.
I'm really happy to be wrong.. I'm going to be in the same boat if I can't get hold of one..
djrobmac.. if you already have a microsim.. perhaps you can enlighten us on how you got it?0
