Just off the phone with Orange.

A warning for anyone on contract that's thinking of buying either a sim free or a payg.

They tell me they will not be sending out a micro sim on request, they're only supplying them to their own 4 acc's or for iPads !

Something to bear in mind if you don't fancy talking a craft knife to your sim !
Easy option, buy one of these, converts a sim to a micro sim, failing that sharp scissors has done the trick for quite a few here with the ipad.

For all these people worrying about cutting their sim card if micro sims don't turn up.........

    This refers to O2 customers,

If you walk into an O2 store and say your mum, wife, gran, great uncle have lost their sim card and you've been told to pop into an O2 store to get them a replacement they will just give you an unregistered Post Pay SIM and allow your relative to call O2 to actually swap the sim at a later stage.

Keep this spare unregistered sim handy, if you mess up your cutting, call O2 and perform a sim swap to this new card, you'll find you'll only be out of service for a few mins before that replacement card becomes active!

Remember that you cannot sim swap from a Contract sim to a PAYG sim so those free ones you have in the drawer are no good for anything other than practicing on.

If you have a normal SIM on Simplicity now, they'll surely send you a microsim if you request one wont they?

Sure they said that to me on a live chat the other day

Of course they will bud, everyone is panicking about nothing. Its just a frickin sim card, anyone with a pair of scissors can chop up their current one so it's not like by not supplying them it would stop people using old sim cards lmao

Once they get them in reasonable stock they will be flooded out to anyone that wants one

Why should they provide you with a micro sim?? It will cost them money to manufacture them, post them etc etc..

If you request a microsim they also know you are going to stick it in an iPhone and your data allowance and their bandwidth is going up.

It's also a selling point for them.

I mentioned this before as it was a nightmare getting a 3G sim off Orange 'back in the day'.. I thought this was on the cards...
