Yes, any pre-orders that aren't picked up will go on general sale the next day

Hoping I can get one of these.

Does anyone know if I phone Apple on the 25th July and ask them to keep me one back if they have one spare? And if I pay for it over the phone if they would do this?

Good to see we are not the only people debating whether Orange will replace existing SIM cards with MicroSims.

A few seem to have been successful (existing iPhone tariff users possibly?), a lot of others are being turned away point blank saying Orange will not replace SIMs or upgrade standard tariffs to iPhone contracts..

Edit: Those getting MicroSims aren't clear if they will replace existing contracts or are just new MicroSims on contract or PAYG..

Sounds like orange might be being a pain in the ****, at least for now....
O2 seem to be more reasonable.

Er whats this and this mean? Slightly worrying...
PAYG customers have unlimited wi-fi (no asterisk this time, but the small print suggests a similar 750Mb limit) and mobile internet browsing is capped at 250Mb per month.

Texts are free to all customers and wi-fi is unlimited. As with Orange, though, there's a catch – in this case a fair usage policy and a warning that unlimited data on smartphone tariffs is part of a promotion until October 2010.

Is data basically internet usage? Wish they call it that if it is!

i looked on the terms and conditions on the orange site i dont see an october 2010 so where did pocketgamer get that from?

For those who have not reserved or pre-ordered the iPhone 4, you should still be able to get an iPhone 4 on the 24th.

Apple have run out of their reserved allocated stock for stores and pre-order deliveries but they should still have some set aside for instore purchases. Unless you hear that Apple are advising people not to go to stores then I would assume that there will be some stock on the day (along with a lot of people no doubt).

The networks and retailers (such as Carphone Warehouse, Phones4U) will have stock allocated too. There's no way all the networks would annouce that they will all be selling the iPhone 4 on launch day if they had not been allocated considerable stock from Apple. How much stock they have been allocated is anyone's guess but we're talking 1,000s or even 10,000s. Apple have probably only run out because they've had to keep stock aside for the networks.
