They take forever and a day to reply to emails so phone them on 0800 011 012, they also delete any negative comments on their facebook page.
  • My first post! :) Long time reading but never posted before.

Have to say, I've never had any problems with the stuff I've bought via KGB deals. I think it's a bit strong to call them a scam for having what sounds like poor customer service.
One site which I use now is called One Pound Daily Deals. You don't have to pay for the deal upfront (you buy the deal voucher for £1 and pay direct) so avoids a lot of the potential problems associated with KGB and others.

Does anyone have any new phone numbers for KGB? The phone numbers on here are not working for me.
  • Wow £149 for a tablet that Toys R US have been selling for £149 for a long time and its that price across the net or cheaper. Where do they find these shops that over mark up prices to £299 to make it look like a good deal. Think I will stick with groupon at least they have a few good offers from time to time.

I'm not sure if the cases here apply, but have people used their debit/CC to pay or Paypal? Maybe if you purchase the deals through Paypal you will be able to get your money back, with less problems and quicker?

Personally, I never pay via the CC option for any site if they have a Paypal option as I don't want to have to fill in my details all the time and I would prefer the least amount of information about me to be in a company's possession with all the leaks and hacks that happen thesedays.

I know this is different as its covered by their 'payment protection scheme', but when I buy things through eBay and pay via Paypal, if I have a problem, Paypal always give me my money back in full even if the other party does not contact them regarding it.

I understand some people may not like Paypal and have had horrendous experiences with them being a Seller (from what I have heard they can freeze your account if they simply do not agree with your products and effectively steal whatever you have in there - often thousands if you are stupid enough to use it as a deposit account) but as a buyer I have never had any problems.

Also, if I have had any problems with Groupon (twice on occasion with the deal offerer not fulfilling their side even after I have accessed the offer) they have always given me a refund with and apology and no questions asked, so maybe they are a better site to stick with.
  • Hi

I am getting a bit fed up of people constantly saying kgbdeals is a scam.

kgbdeals offer a service, this service is efficient and does work. I use kgbdeals for the hotels on a regular basis and never have any problems. Thats the problem with these sites, people get to slate a valid and working company for something that is more than likely their own fault.

Never mind the fact that kgbdeals is in the same brand as 118 118 (a very safe and established company). Try looking at Groupon and the likes. In the news every day, kgbdeals are yet to appear in the news.

More thought is needed before commenting I think!!

That the OP has only ever posted once then vanished into oblivion, raises suspicions to their accusations. I have never used this company so could not say one way or the other whether they are dodgy or not, the lack of complaints of the company being a scam on the web would lean towards them being legit, possibly with one or two unhappy customers.

However I would err caution on doing business with a company that a complete stranger would go to the trouble of registering on MSE in order to praise a company only for them to vanish in much the same way as the OP did.

The best way for anyone to do a background check on a company, is to Google them and come to a conclusion based on the information available out there, good and bad, then weigh up the pros and cons in order to formulate your own conclusions.

  • I recently purchased a deal and made the appointment but was then taken into hospital so couldn't make it. I contacted her to rearrange prior to the appointment date but heard no reply. All throughout my recovery in hospital after my operation I tried contacting the merchant but didn't get any response.

After numerous emails to KGB and their lack of contact they then told me I couldn't have a refund because I was over 10 days since purchasing the voucher and that it wasn't their fault the merchant wouldn't contact me.

How do I make a formal complaint about the company and is their a financial ombudsman for Internet companies?

All help and advise would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank
