We got a good deal to circus - then my friend tried to do same for last day - voucher expires tomorrow when circus ends - fine but after paying, the link that KGB sent says they are sorry but they need 48 hours to proces the transaction. Attempts to contact kgb in past on other matters have been totally unsuccessful.
  • I've bought a great deal for £99 web designer course, from KGBDEALs. £99 pounds for a course wich can make u earn more money in the future- I thought i would have been stupid not to take it (even if i dont need it right now). I bought the deal yesterday late afternoon and today tried to redeem the voucher. Voucher invalid.. Got on the web search to find contact number for kgb -couldnt find it.. found this page and read all these scam warnings- I thought my heart will explode -I paid £99 pounds and just 'lost the money???'. I called the company who actually does the courses and they told me that the do have a deal with kgb deals, and once you buy the voucher kgb needs to email your voucher code to the merchant so the can then make it 'valid' KGB works Mon-Fri 9am-5pm so the course provider told me I can try to redeem Mon afternoon- max Tue and assured me there is no posibility for me not to be able to redeem the voucher and that this is not a scam. I'll try back on Mon if not again on Tue and Iwill let everyone know what happend. To be continued....

Has anyone reported them to Trading Standards and is there ground for it?
I bought 2 vouchers, one for DIY, there was no indication that the deal was only available Monday to Friday and there was going to be a 6 week lead in time. Another one for a beauty treatment and no one is answering the phone to make a booking.

perhaps a spelling and grammar course, coupled with business skills may have been more beneficial...just taking a course "wich can make u earn more money in the future" wont get you anywhere.
  • I do not believe that KGB themselves are intentionally running scams, although their admin & customer service is atrocious- but they claim no culpability when traders they advertise can not fulfil their commitments.

I have bought 2 deals with them (they overlapped or I would not have been so stupid as to repeat the mistake).
The first was for a beauty website- bought in June 2011. As well as the £20 for the KGB voucher I had to pay extra to the 'seller' for the difference over the voucher price- all done by paypal as I believed I was protected.
I was concerned I was not receiving my goods so sent literally 10s of emails to the trader & KGB. I kept getting responses up until August 15th saying the goods were due for dispatch apologies for the delay.
Eventually KGB admitted they were having problems with the trader & offered to refund my money- but not the extra to the trader. I contacted paypal & due to the delaying tactics, I was too late to claim money back through them.
KGB have claimed to have refunded this money (with specific dates of the refund- that keep changing) numerous times.
Today they said they refunded it on the 22nd June (2 days after I purchased it!). Paypal have confirmed to me in writing that this refund has never been made to my paypal account.

The second 'deal' was even more costly. £149 for a leather sofa bed apparently costing £500- ordered in Aug 2011. We were told from the outset this had a 4-6 week delay as it was custom built. Due to the issues with the other deal I was trying to get confirmation of dates of delivery from the outset- these changed from the 28th Oct to the 28th Nov- which came & went- again no goods.
KGB have again claimed they will refund the price but even if they did that doesn't help with the inconvenience of failed promises and the hours spent trying to get responses from them.

It remains to be seen whether this refund will materialise!
I shall definitely be contacting the trading standards about them in the New Year. If anyone else wants to join forces to add gravitus to the complaint & hopefully get some recompense, I'm happy to work with them.

I will certainly direct trading standards to this link. Fingers crossed and anyone considering a purchase beware- it maybe legit but you could also lose a lot of money.
  • Alex- please don't pay attention to whitelabel's response.

    Lets keep things relevant!
  • I am having similar problems to people here with KGB deals.

I purchased a Christmas Tree a couple of weeks ago - paid for the main item out of KGB vouchers (or so i thought) and had to paypal the postage to the company directly (I should have known this was dodgy).

Since then KGB have sent me one email saying my credit card will be charged, and any further attempts to contact them have just resulted in a robotic response with no clarification.

The company themselves: Tefneth Imports appear to be Dutch and are completely unresponsive.

I let my guard down as I thought it would be a very cheap deal (£4.99 in postage, the rest in vouchers) - but I should have been more wary.

My strong advice to anyone looking to use KGB deals (or Tefneth Imports for that matter) - would be to ring the company actually offering the deal first, and get a feel for their customer service/ability to deliver the product before placing any order through KGB.

I wonder whether Martin and the team would consider writing an article into the dangers of websites like KGB deals, as there are quite a few of them out there now, and I would imagine there are quite a few horror stories.

I called them and managed to get a full refund to both my vouchers. I don't think I will buy from them again. Their email system for dealing with complaint doesn't work.
Try calling them, the chap I had on the phone was very helpful.
  • Just to be fair to KGB, a small update: Finally got a reply to my email from KGB - who confirmed no card charged and I don't know if they had any clout with the provider, but my item did then turn up a few days later!
