at the moment I can't see me ever having another relationship again, but I know never to say never.
Now now girl, less of that. You've got lots of relationships here now, even if we are all virtual. :D

DH and I once went to a 'marriage weekend', it was meant to strengthen our marriage but the leaders seemed to be saying that there wasn't room in a marriage for anyone else to be a friend, or confidante, and that you should rely on your partner, and only your partner, for everything. Needless to say we didn't get much out of that weekend because it just seemed SO wrong! Fortunately we both felt that way, so there wasn't a problem.

I don't mean we don't confide in each other, or that we're not friends, but we do separate things. We have to: he's a lot more sociable than I am, and his work brings him into contact with a lot of people who know the organisation I work for too, so even at the supermarket we meet people who know him. He has a lot of evening meetings, so doing things together isn't always possible. At one stage I was a bit of a recluse, until I found a couple of things that I wanted to do which he didn't have time for, and the children were old enough to be left. Now I have a small circle of friends who know of him but don't know him, and that's very affirming for me.

    You CAN do this!

If she gets stroppy with you, you could always say that you were thinking of having your new boyfriend act as your 2nd birthing partner and your cousing looking after the girls, thus saving all the hassle of who goes where during the birth...

    Watch the face drop then.

But then again, I am evil.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Thank you Jojo. I haven't laughed so much for ages!!

Well I haven't had any comments at all today. I got a text this morning to see if I needed anything from the supermarket or a lift anywhere, but no mention of the fall out.

I've been having lots of practise contractions today so my home birth might go out the window if I go too early :( So fingers crossed he stays put (although I don't think he'd be that early because I disagree with their dates by over a week).

GG - I really do admire your strength. I don't know if I could have been quite so restrained with MIL following comments like that. I hope your bub does stay put for a bit longer. You're doing brilliantly and such a great role model for your daughters.

Piffy - my mum used to say this to us all the time and we laughed at it as a bonkers Lancashire thing (we all grew up in Yorkshire) and I've never heard anyone else say it!

you mean the piffyonarockbun? My mum used to use it when we were kids. ie sitting there like Piffy on a rockbun. No idea where the saying comes from but I presume its Lancashire as that's where we are from.

Hi GG Just read the whole thread I don't really have any advice but wanted to wish you luck.

I hope the birth of your beautiful baby boy goes as smoothly as you would like and everyone behaves themselves.

    Love and best wishes

    Steph xx
