Thank you Andy, I'll use these numbers when I call them next week and using the 1899 prefix they will be free :)

I've had an idea on how I might be able to transfer my Wanadoo account to PAYG whilst also requesting the MAC code to migrate the broadband connection to another ISP .... I could say that I am running more than one computer at home and wish to retain a dial-up access on one of the PC's therefore would like to transfer to PAYG.

Do you think this sounds feasible?

It sounds better than anything I could think of. I hope they go for it
  • Hey Spikey, I'm on ntl broadband too. £17.99 for unlimited 300k speed. If I went to this supplier, cancelled with ntl, would ntl take my modem back??
got too be interested in this deal., but the £30 + start up puts me off a little.
    Anyone got any thoughts

I was about to ask a similar question. I assume NTL would want their modem back. So then what do I do with my cable broadband - do I just buy a new USB cable modem and EFH connects to the same cable I already have installed or do I start from scratch somehow?

Assuming I go for EFH's £12 deal + set up costs + harware cost I'm wondering how long it would take for me to see a saving. I'm not that fussed about the improved connection speed as I only use my PC for basic web browsing and the current 300k is sufficient for this.

Sorry I'm a complete beginner to this. If anyone could talk me through it using very small words I would be grateful!

    thanks
    Alice

    Edited to add:
I posted this http://www.eurofasthost.com/forum/showthread.php?p=4010#post4010 on their forums.

Basically as I have got NTL telephone as well, it's a no-go. YOu need a BT line.
  • Alice - are you using NTL for TV and telephone as well as BB ? If so - there are ways to money save.

There are two co's (Onetel and TalkTalk) that are offering FREE evening and w/e calls for 12 months - with Onetel giving a £20 credit and TalkTalk £10. Combine this with BT Option 1 (£10.50 by DD) and https://www.18866.co.uk for 1p a call (for during the day) and your savings would probably fund moving to EFH.
This assumes that there is a BT line into the house already ? If so - BT will reconnect for free.

As you are on NTL you cant migrate to EFH so you would have to pay the £80 ish set up fee and buy a modem its not worth it you would be better going somewhere that includes the modem and set up cost for free .

Something like the Wanadoo pack you can pick up from Dixons/Currys/Pc World for £19.99 you get 2 months service and a modem and connection so for the year it would cost £199.89 (on the £17.99 month package) where as EFH would be £240 ish for the year
  • Thinking of changing from BT to these guys for broadband....anybody had any problems with payments etc ?

Thank you for this! So you're saying if I migrated to a BT landline telephone, then I would be able to move over to EFH? I hve to say I don't understand the technology at all. At the moment my broadband & telephone are two totally separate things - but with EFH they would be the same?

Yes, I'm on NTL for everything currently.

I pay c.£12 a month for telephone+TV and £18 for 300k internet. I don't make any outgoing calls on my landline apart from occasional international calls using Telesavers for 1p/min. For all other calls I use the bundled minutes on my mobile contract, spending about £35 a month.

Round it up for good measure and call it £70 a month on TV, 2 phones & internet, all in.

I have to say that at this point the sums get too complicated for me when I start thinking about migrating to BT, reducing my mobile package and using those minutes on my landline instead, then changing internet over to EFH.

Would I be able to keep the same landline tel no.? And what would happen to my TV service from ntl? Presumably I would either have to give that up or keep paying for it? If I gave it up I could replace it with say Freeview, but that would incur another cost to be added into the equation.

I'll save this conundrum for a rainy day I think, it's much too confusing for me!

    Thanks again

Really confused by this, I'm ashamed to say. I have no idea what you're talking about!
