Could be worse, I just had to bring my boys in from the garden so they didn't have to hear an animated conversation about neighbours mate alwasy forgetting to bring his kit on a Friday night.
And we aint talking sports players here....0

If I were in your shoes Id see the solution as:
 1) Having a quiet word with mum next door re the noise and you would prefer it a little quieter, is there a compromiseyou an reachv together?
 2) telling her that an extra noise barrier would be put up by you -ie fencing or plants etc to stop you being so affected by the childrens play
 3) that unfortunately means that the kids wontbe able to leap into the garden anymore, so could she let them know that they should try as hard as they can to keep thier toys within their garden
 4) That you have no problem with thme using thier own garden for family time, could they let you know when they are going to have a BBQ so you can bring your washing in.
Does this sound like a conversation you really dont feel capable of having? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
 This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0

I don't see how you can't see a solution when several have been offered - talk to them, put up a canvas gazebo to shield yourself a bit, earplugs, music, fence, conifers.....
You've shot down all the options given for reasons that to be perfectly honest seem a bit weak. It seems like you're so used to thinking of yourself as a victim of the noisy neighbours who seem really intimidating that you've lost the ability to look at your situation dispassionately. If you're so upset by it that you can't continue to live the way you do, then change it.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

well all I can is this site is addictive and if I play my cards right i should be able to save more money then to sell up and buy a remote house somewhere far away from here!
Wonders whether you might need a (considerate) next door neighbour. I'm "house trained" - I try and keep my house up-to-scratch (but without being a DIY fan...) and I'm good for a bit of mutual plantwatering:D. I keep the volume down on my music too...0

I do have music on and earplugs, and will look into conifers but that wasnt going to be done in one afternoon....also trees and fences dont stop people making constant noise and behave the way they do I cant stop them acting the way they do by chatting with them one day.
on a different note I am looking into letting my place and move nearer work have done so for a while before noise took over maybe now is the right time just ahve this summer to put up with it0

Believe me, you sound far too fragile to live where I do love!
O.P. is not being "fragile". That sounds a bit of an "opinion" there - and not a flattering one. O.P. is the sort of person she is - and she is entitled to be. There wasnt a problem until this family moved in next door....0

Actually...thats caused me to wonder for a second time if the situation could be changed at root.
...wonders what regulations there are to let out a house and whether this house matches them;)
...fire regulations maybe - maybe they apply - and would cost a fair amount to implement....(money the landlord may not have....)0
