sara86pink wrote: »I did spend most of the day yesterday doing spreadsheets showing my work for last 3 months (didnt have time to do the whole lot) and when I told my boss last night I had these to show in our meeting he said we wont be needing them as they are going to be doing it differently than initially planned.
But then again, he doesnt know what is on my spreadsheets so how does he know it doesnt go with the new plan?
So, meeting this morning (so maybe this afternoon!) cant say what I'm expecting at all, I'm preparing myself to be very disappointed and also not to get a whiff of anything for the work I've done the last 4 months.
But, sooner I know what I'm getting, the sooner I can stop going on about it and just focus on looking for other jobs.
That may be the case, but that's not a bonus structure. A bonus structure is you will get £x for every £y you save/bring in or £x for each set of 100 new orders or £x for 3 new clients that place an order etc etc.0 -
Any news Sara?????0

Well, short story, no bonus. In order to get a bonus I need to contribute revenue to the business which I havent been doing (well, the odd little bit here and there but nowhere near enough to warranty a bonus)
Long story, the reason this hasnt been happening is because someone in the office isnt doing their job right. I spent most of the meeting (late yesterday) with my manager and big boss with them saying they are sorry and only figured this out last minute when I handed in my stats and they had to investigate which is why the meeting took so long.
So, because this individual hasnt been doing their job, its made my job pretty pointless so again, the whole meeting consisted of them saying this but that they are really impressed with my work and are going to work all together in the next couple of weeks to work a structure out so that the process works out to my advantage.
So, all in all, no bonus because someone in the office just doesnt help me so he's getting a kick up the butt, will start helping me so I can start bringing in more revenue so that they can put the bonus structure in place so I can start making bonus.
Initially I really wasnt happy because I want my bonus! But after an evening of talking with my OH, I decided to just not to worry about this anymore as its bringing more stress to my life than I need.
End of the day, I'm on a pretty decent basic wage, it covers my outgoings, my debt and a little bit of disposeable, my job is secure which is important and I'm no worse off than I was before the meeting.
So, if they do get their butts in gear and all pitch in to help me make my job a) not so pointless and b) give me a chance to earn some extra cash then good. If not, then I will just keep plodding along, and in the autumn start doing some serious job hunting (have to move house and go on holiday first!)
Thanks again for all your support and apologies that the outcome wasnt that positive but hey, you never know for the future!

Thanks for update. Ok, no bonus, but I imagine you've learned some very useful lessons & come away with self esteem in tact because you SPOKE UP. Well done for not fretting about it & maintaining mental stability. There's that saying/prayer that comes to mind :
God, grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference."Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -
Thanks Joyfull, that saying has really lifted my spirits and is very true!:j *~* 2011 - TRY TO GET CREDIT CARD AS LOW AS POSS BUT STILL HAVE FUN *~* :j0

Although it's not the end result you hoped for there are positives to be taken from this. You did speak up and was listened to, you've identified that it's not worth getting worked up about and you've also managed to get some confidence back to. Don't give up though, still keep an eye out for anything else that may come along. You're in a good position now and the big boss is aware that you're not going to be a doormat!
Keep us all posted if anything new comes along but WELL DONE on putting yourself forward to speak up, I know it can't have been easy.0 -
Thanks chatterbox, it wasnt easy as I'm used to being the quiet and shy one in the office but it has given me the courage to approach them if anything else is to come up!
Thanks again:j *~* 2011 - TRY TO GET CREDIT CARD AS LOW AS POSS BUT STILL HAVE FUN *~* :j0 -
Hi,
Just read through your thread. Sounds very similar to the position I've found myself in recently. I've been with my employer for almost three and a half years, in that time I've gone from being the new guy who knows nothing to being one of the senior guys on the team but I'm one of the lowest paid as other people have moved to my team from different deprtments (thry had to do that or be made redundant) and are earning the same they were in their last role which is a good £5 - 6k more than me and I'm having to train them! I don't begrudge them as the roles they did before very pretty high up but I'm only now getting a sniff of a promotion after going over my managers head to the department head.
Luckily the Dof is a really nice guy and is now on my bosses case to push my promotion.
Basically, keep it up, be good at your job and don't be afraid to speak out!0 -
Hi all
Know its been a while but just wanted to share the fact that I have just quit!!!!
I got signed off for a week due to stress and while I was off I was contacted directly by a high street agency offering me a job!
Money is the same but I get a guarenteed bonus, the people seem nice and its closer to where I live with slightly less hours.
Just handed in my notice to big boss who didnt seem fussed but waiting for my managers response which should be fun!!!
Just wanted to say thank you again for people who replied and gave me support!
Woo I'm a very happy (if not a tiny bit worried about managers response!) teddy bear!!!!
Thanks again xxx:j *~* 2011 - TRY TO GET CREDIT CARD AS LOW AS POSS BUT STILL HAVE FUN *~* :j0 -
Good for you Sara as your bosses were just taking total advantage of you! I hope you enjoy your new job as it already sounds better - guaranteed bonus, less hours and same money! well done you!
stuff what your soon to be ex-managers think or say! they should have treated you better and given you what they had promised - I bet they will end up with high staff turnover if they treat people like that all the time.BSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0
