Er...an office of 6 and 2 of them (at least) have new company cars? Is there a bigger picture I'm missing here? Are you a satellite office for a larger company?
Nope your not missing anything. The boss has leased out 2 brand new convertibles for the consultants, one consultant left before the car arrived so now the boss's mistress drives it for now. Its just that he is nice and rich so can afford to do this but when it comes to arranging my bonus.... hmmm... nope!
I've just emailed him again asking when this will be sorted as I need to get the money sorted within the next few weeks due to moving out.
Lets wait and see (again!):j *~* 2011 - TRY TO GET CREDIT CARD AS LOW AS POSS BUT STILL HAVE FUN *~* :j0 -

Any update?
Interesting thread0 -
Reading this thread has reminded me of so many places I have worked in. The worst can be very small businesses where there is no-one to go to when things get difficult. None of us are perfect but I've worked for bosses who sulk, expect you to read their minds, send people to 'coventry', 'forget' the promised annual pay increase etc.
Blurry nightmare!.. OP you have my sympathy. Be strong."Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -

Because it is a turn of phrase, i.e. ignoring them, rather then literally putting them on a train to the Midlands0

I must say I am surprised how many people are reading this thread and I really do appreciate all the support!
At first I thought I was just being greedy to ask for my bonus seeing that I am lucky just to be in a full time job!
Anyways, sent email yesterday explaining I need to get this sorted soon as possible because of my impending house move and extra outgoings.
Just as he was leaving last night he said we will sit down today at some point and sort it all out.
So, for once I have a timescale of when he will sit down with me so just have to wait and see if it does actually happen.:j *~* 2011 - TRY TO GET CREDIT CARD AS LOW AS POSS BUT STILL HAVE FUN *~* :j0 -
I sometimes think bonuses are like restaurant tips, i.e. employers getting away with paying lower wages with the promise of a bonus to keep you hanging around for your carrot. So no, you're not being greedy, and I can't wait to hear how it goes. The "at some point" sounds rather vague though.0

Sara; it sounds like you need to really take the initiative here; do you know anyone else's bonus structure?
Even if you don't; put a proposal forward for yours - give it to him at your meeting today and say 'in the absence of anyone being able to figure one out, here's one I made earlier'...and make sure it is much more than you think you expect. If you do know theirs, make sure it matches.
Make sure it is based on targets that you can easily meet.
If he doesn't have the meeting/disappears off; then email it to him under the title 'bonus proposal'.
Then get into his office and negotiate. Pretend you are doing it for a best friend and not for yourself....0
