Too scared to ask!!!

When I returned to my current employer after a few months away, they said that my new role would include bonuses, so the opportunity to earn more money a month.
I had my 3 month review late (due to company restructure of people leaving etc) and they said they were working on my bonus structure as I was doing really well and they wanted to work something out that would benefit me the most as this is a new role so they needed to work things out.
That was about 3 months ago now and nothing has been said. I know things have been hectic with someone leaving and having to replace them and train them etc, but this new person has just left a couple of days ago so now its gone all hectic again.
I really need the extra money and in fairness to me, they did say they would work something out!
Thing is, I'm too scared to bring it up as my managers arent the easiest to confront (they are very jokey and sarcastic and I havent got the confidence to talk to them about serious things)
Any advise on what I can do?
I would email them but they both sit so close to me it will look a bit silly getting an email from the person sat right behind them!!!
Also, the person who has left (and now there is a vacancy for) is for a recruitment consultant. I'm currently a resourcer which is the step below and everyone in the office thinks I should go for it, but again I'm too scared!
The money though.... oh my god... its sooooooo good and would answer majority of all my issues!!!

I may leave it to the afternoon, that way if it gets a bit too embarrassing I wont have to sit with them in the office all day!!

I'm going to go straight to the head boss as if I ask my manager he will just say 'yeah I'll talk to him at some point'

Yeah...
Not sure if my manager has spoken to the boss yet as hes been in and out of his office all day.
To be honest I'm not expecting any news for a while as I know things have been really hectic in the office and my bonus is probably the lowest priority.
