Have really enjoyed reading this thread. I am really p'd off with our local Freecycle as folks round here seem to be uninterested in pretty much anything I offer (this has included Large TV, Digi Box, VHS Player, Baby Seat for a Bike, DIY materials plus lots more of very useful and usable items.)
This thread though has made me smile.
Where else could I send the TV & Digi Box?£2012 in 2012 Challenge £2051.06£2013 in 2013 Challenge £500 -

Having had 3 failed collections on a Sky box I ended up putting it in the front garden by the gate on the Drive with a note saying 'please help yourself' and it was gone in 10 minutes.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Our local group seems quite good.
I just posted my first offer on Freecycle and have been inundated with replies.
I was just wondering if anyone has offered anything how did you choose who to give your item to? I am going to give it to a charity but there are at least 10 of those and most are offering to collect. How shall I choose the most deserving recipient?0 -

If you want to be really sure you're giving to charity and not a 'charity', ask for their official charity number
When I post offered items, anyone who just says 'I'll have it' or 'when can I pick up' gets deleted, and I hate text speak and really bad spelling (no excuse, that's what spell checker is there for!) so can't bring myself to read those emails, let alone respond. Generally, if someone asks nicely without a huge sob story, and can collect or is on OH's way home, I'll offer it to themPaying off CC in 2011 £2100/£1692
