On mine this evening:
'hiya i have just moved in any house items contact me'
A little vague if you ask me ...
or
Wanted: 3 seater cream sofa - I'm looking to redecorate.
And thats the best/worst that appears on my freecycle.0 -
A response to one of my offers this weekend...
hi i need these please
At least I got a 'please' but alittle brief and vague for me, are my expectations too high?:rotfl:0 -

probably a generic email sent to you by a dealer sending dozens out at a time - then will come round in a large white van and scoop up your stuff amongst others to knock out on Ebay or a car boot
probably :cool:As Martin says - please be nice - there is no such thing as a stupid question !0 -

Yes very probably! I find it quite odd that people would think that they are going to get any offers by sending emails like that though!
I guess if he is a dealer then even if he sends 30 emails and has only one response, its all profit for him though! I do try and see through the dealers though, as I look on the local ebay search and see if there is anything familiar, then note their freecycle name and avoid them.0 -
One thing I have noticed recently, it seems more and more people who are offering items, are asking for you to ring them. How is that FREEcycle then??
So anyway, having not been on freecycle all week, I've just been onto my 3 local ones and seen the following:
Hey
i really want a piano because i have a 66 key key board , but some of my
friends have an actual piano and after practising for a while i decided i would
like one of my own but unfortuantly i cannot afford one , i would be able to
possibly pay to get it tuned if thats a problem
but i would also settle for a electric keyboard with recording facilities and a
stand with a pedal
- My dad and i are also looking for a xbox , xbox 360 , psp's nintendo's , or
ps3's because as i said before we are short on money and have wanted one for
agesthanks again

Well I seemed to have picked up a stalker via freecycle. I offered 2 items yesterday and this particular person emailed me with:
" hi em i would be very interested in ur ***** and *****, is there n e chance u could deliver please, im in ***** and could pay forur petrol if its not too much, thanks, *** "
Then 5 mins later they emailed me the same again.
Then half an hour later I get an instant message through yahoo "hi luv did u get my email?"
Then half an hour later "hi just wondered if u got my message luv"
Then this morning "have u still got these please, if u have i would be very grateful for them, i know its cheeky but could u deliver in ***** please for fuel costs, many thanks,***"
Anyway I emailed back this afternoon explaining the items have gone (which they will be on Weds) and that I couldn't deliver as have no car(i have really).
I'm scared to offer anything on freecycle ever again now!My daughters are my world0 -

What is so wrong with someone who is giving something away for FREE expecting those that want it to ring them? I wouldn't pay to ring someone who wants something I am giving them for free. Do you mean the other way around i.e. people wanting things expecting the person giving the item away to ring them?0 -

When somebody is offering something, they put "please ring *****". I just think it should all be done through e-mail.0 -

That could be a bit time-consuming, couldn't it? Just how much does it cost for you to make one telephone call? If you desperately want/need something that's being offered for free, surely you can't object to making one phonecall?0 -
