Looks like we have ructions, lots of strange posts on the 'cafe' thread (which is unmoderated) and now this on the official one:

WOULD ALL MEMBERS PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE MEANING OF FREEGLE IS TO KEEP GOOD USABLE ITEMS FROM GOING TO LANDFILL AND BUILDING A GOOD COMMUNITY SPIRIT ALONG THE WAY.

FREEGLE IS NOT A CHARITY SITE OR A ONE STOP SHOP THAT YOU CAN PLACE YOUR ORDER AND EXPECT TO GET WHAT YOU ARE ASKING FOR.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO BE POLITE AND COURTEOUS AT ALL TIMES!.

WHEN A MEMBER IS OFFERING AN ITEM IT IS UP TO THEM WHOM THEY CHOOSE TO GIFT THEIR ITEM TO, IF YOU ARE REQUESTING AN ITEM YOU MUST BE POLITE AND COURTEOUS AT ALL TIMES.


DO NOT-DEMAND THE ITEM AS THOUGH IT IS YOUR RIGHT TO HAVE IT.

DO NOT-SEND PHONE NO'S AND EXPECT THE GIFTING MEMBER TO PHONE YOU.

DO NOT- SEND THE GIFTING MEMBER SEVERAL POSTS ASKING FOR THE ITEM.

REMEMBER- ALWAYS BE POLITE AND COURTEOUS AT ALL TIMES.

IF YOU DO GET OFFERED AN ITEM THEN YOU MUST COLLECT THE ITEM AS ARRANGED WITH THE GIFTING MEMBER,FAILURE TO SHOW UP WITHOUT A REASONABLE EXPLANATION WILL RESULT IN YOU GETTING A WARNING OR EVEN BEING REMOVED FROM THE GROUP.

ALL MEMBERS ARE ASKED TO BE POLITE AND COURTEOUS TOWARDS OTHER MEMBERS.

MEMBERS WHO ABUSE THE FREEGLE RULES WILL BE SUBJECT TO A WARNING OR EVEN REMOVAL FROM THE GROUP.

"Hi there i know this is a BIG ask and i know these can be expencive and may not
end up on a landfill site but i was wondering if anyone has a (iphone/iphone
style)touch screen moblie phone with charger or a blackberry (or
blackberry style) with charger i could have please as i am not one of those
people that get some think of freecycle just to sell it"

I think they may have put their foot in it. I would be put off giving anything away to them in the future.

If I was that desperate I would rather go without gas or electric than my 2 cats.

If I had to, I'd give up the internet before my dog - at a guess they probably pay £15 a monthish for the net.

People tend to find a way if needed, they say they can't afford things as they feel less guilty than admitting they can't be bothered anymore

Not all of course, but the majority. I rescued a boy ratty off freecycle last month!

I can't decide if this is genuine or a junkie trying to stock up?

wanted phd student looking for old medicine bottles/pills

hello a bit of a strange request but I am creating a large painting that is to
be constructed out of different coloured pills/tablets and capsules also
medicine bottles.I am hoping that people have out of date medicines that they no
longer use or old vitamin tablets,any colour or size as i am finding sourcing
them rather difficult and i am sure loads must just get thrown away each day
