and another gem tnight....... they are all out today:I am in need of a van, so I thought I would ask if anyone out there has a van which is just rusting away.
I am not picky all I asked is that it is road worthy, oh and its cant be red! (we had our palms read and she said a red vehicle was bad!)
I don't mind what size, although bigger than a "ford escort style" would be great.
I hope you guys can come up with something for me.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
*lol* Tell them you have a 2 year old transit van - but unfortunately it's red so you're going to give it someone else! The Daleks Reign Supreme, All Hail The Daleks!0

I still keep trying to offer....but will only give to those who say thanks or please, i'm still waiting for a recipient for a mixed bag of kids clothes i can't be bothered ebaying....the sob stories i have heard is unreal (everyone seems to be unemployed with 3+ kids) noone has asked what size the clothes are and i have even said they would suit a car booter, enough of the sobs! just please ask if they are still available could you PLEASE have them, and you can collect tomorrow, at 5 and no phone numbers!!! instead of the 'yea txt me i av 7 kids n bin layed off so need um' I ALWAYS state no phone numbers, and i do give good stuff. I don't drive still so easier than sending to charity in most cases. If google doesn't know it, how should i?0

I've giggled at this thread quite a bit. I normally offer my LO's clothes on freecycle (nothing major just vests and babygrows which still have plenty of wear in them) and have never asked for anything.
Anyway, last night an 'offered' ad pops up for a computer desk. Aftering much pestering from the OH I emailed the person very politely ( I hate emails with no pleases/thank yous) and asked for the dimensions of the desk. I got a response saying that someone was coming to veiw it that evening so erm tough basically. I responsed say thats fine, no problem.
Roll on this morning, email in the inbox ranting that the person had not turned up for the desk etc, its mine if I want it. So I ask for the address and a contact number (in case of delays etc)
Got the mobile number but they refused to give the address??? :rotfl: Finally got a street name and the OH went (I deffo wasn't) and he said it was easy to find as the item had just been dumped in the garden.
Gotta love some people!0 -
I've done that before Nikki, some people expect the items to be kept in storage for ages (my old house was a 2up 2 down so not possible if i had replaceed something) while they muck around, trouble is...if you put the item outside and it rains and they don't show then you are lumbered! If google doesn't know it, how should i?0

It wasn't so much the item being outside (that I can kind of understand - wouldn't want strangers in my house) but refusing to give an address when they wanted an item removed? Getting the street name was like getting blood from a stone. I.e. They kept saying I live in the Edinburgh area - fair enough but Edinburgh and its surrounding area is quite big!
Maybe its just me, am I too kind buy giving people my address when they collect items lol?0 -
Sorry i misunderstood. I wait until a person agrees to collect an item before giving my address though. when i was a mod i learned this was the best way, judging by all the complaints! lots of people showing up 6 hours late and i've personally had people showing up the next day unexpected after agreeing for the day before. What we do for the environment eh?If google doesn't know it, how should i?0

There was one guy in the Hertfordshire area, who constantly posted on Freecycle, asking for things to furnish his empty house with. Shelves, tables, chairs, beds, curtains, etc.
I meant to email him and ask if he ever completed his house wholly through Freecycle.
I think theres a youtube film of that or something very similar of some chap kitting out his flat from Freegle donated stuff - from some local news report I thinkAs Martin says - please be nice - there is no such thing as a stupid question !0 -
I was asked to be on a freecycle wedding video /news arcticle (was insulted i did pay for a lot!) Was just given a dress, and even though not my style, being mse i used it and appreciated that i looked 'traditional' and kept family happy! (see my display pic lol) I only wore the dress for the ceremony and changed for the reception into comfy but yet white lace clothes. Many have furnished homes and had free=ish weddings. Its slightly boring hearing how all these people have nothing though *but have a pc and are always online if something sounds valuable*
I did give the dress back on freecycle aswell as my big ebay underskirt and things like garter i never used, oh and a brand new corset from china which was odd sized! If google doesn't know it, how should i?0
