And another dealer 'I'm Fred from Freecycle come to collect your item'
me " which item are you here for? "
    Fred " Um, I don't know"
Me " I advertised several things and am expecting more than one person tonight"
Fred " Um, the wife sent me but i'll have anything that you've got really as I'm sure i can use it"
Me " Do you want to call your wife, or can you tell me what name you used to ask for the item as I wasn't expecting a Fred"
Fred "Um, my wife uses a different email, I don't know what she calls herself"

I had actually worked out what he had come for as the other item was a child's toy and I had met the lady previously, but I wanted to string Fred along for a while once i realised he was a dealer.

He had actually asked for something and was due to collect it, but as i believe he had been 'outed' as a dealer on the forum previously he now appeared to be using a different yahoo address and a womans name.

So he turned up in his van, probably with a list of addresses to collect from . As he was doing more than one collection (I suspect) he didn't actually know which person I was and thought that just saying freecycle would get him the goods. I thought my 'radar' was better than that as I had already decided against two other people with generic 'yes please i'd love it' responses, but the slightly longer email fooled me. Although re reading it I suspect it is generic as he doesn't actually mention the item, he just says I would really like what you are offering as I've just got my own place, love Marie.

Did you still give Fred the item?

got five separate posts on my freecycle all from the same person - barely a please visible - asking for a bike, a clean carpet, shelves for his living room, a washing machine (with delivery please), and furniture (double or triple wardrobes, shelves, chest of drawers, corner units and a headboard double size).........

The "please" only crept in when obviously he/she would like free delivery! :p I think I have been far too lax in not expecting others to furnish my house for me so am off to post some requests on freecycle too.... ;)

  • just added on mine :

    Hi there

We are holding an 18th birthday party and BBQ next Saturday inour garden and looking for any items that will help make it go with a swing.

From banners, ballons, blowers, to inflatable musical instruments, pop up tents etc etc.

The theme is 'mini V festival' so if you have absolutely anything lying around, even old wellies or hippy style t-shirts, anything goes.

    Can collect from any area

    Hope you can help

    Thanks

AND I'LL THROW THE CAKE IN ASWELL AS I'M THAT NICE!!!!
Hoping to of finally learned my lesson...slowly but surely

Yes - a bit , to be honest shes only after some curtains, lamp and stuff - not in the same league as some of the chancers Ive seen on here asking for laptops , cars ,washing machines etc

and clothes lol i know..i was going to offer some high school musical storage boxes but then i read the ages...i know i have seen worse.

i have only posted a few wanted and i so far have only been offered one. im currently looking for a small table and chairs as my landlord finally shifted a bed so we can have a dining room! Sadly lots of ppl are offering tables but massive ones- maybe i should ask for a bigger house? ;)
