Oh yes - another copycat site and one without national support like Freegle groups get. Perhaps it would be better to offer to help the local group to improve it rather than go to the extents of a new one.

I have seen too many copycat sites start & fail.

Put an item on our local Freecycle this afternoon and have 2 emails so far. One was 3 words and a phone number, the other 5 words. Would it kill people to say hello/please/and sign off in some way? It's not as if they will use up all the ink in their pc!

On one of my local groups:

Lots of reasons that he/she wouldn't, which they probably don't want to go into in public. Maybe he's a drug addict, maybe he steals from them, maybe he's been violent towards them, maybe he has severe mental illness that means she can't cope with having him in her house (I say this as a mentally ill person who has been there!). You never know someone's situation unless they tell you.

You usually find that to get council accommodation you need to go through the system, the system often involves accommodating people in the YMCA or homeless shelters until council property becomes available.

You'd be surprised how many parents are happy to write a letter saying they are kicking their kids out to aid them in getting a council flat, then happier still to watch them put into homeless shelters for a few months until something comes up.

Offered a little storage shelf unit - reply within 15mins, offered it to him, he came next morning (within 12hrs) and took it away.

Though I was a bit worried when the email said he would come at 9.30pm on his way to work and just prayed it was a typo/typing at night confusion

Sadly I've finally given up freecycle forever after this past week.

We are having a total clear out (including a skip which we are filling up very quickly ) toys, bags of kids/adult clothes, kitchen and general house items. Got lots of emails asking for the stuff. I don't give a crap who gets them or what they do with them I just want rid so replied to various emails.

Thanks to so many no shows I've ended up getting rid of more stuff by people taking it out of the skip I've hired than I did via freecycle.

WANTED IPhone or Smart Phone.

I know this is a long shot but I am desperate for a new phone. I had an
iPhone 3G (the original model) which I broke twice & is now in iPhone
heaven! I would really appreciate a new iPhone if anyone has a spare. Ideally I
would love an iPhone 4 but I know this is very unlikely so an iPhone 3Gs or
even an iPhone 3G would be very gratefully received. If anyone has any
alternative smart phones such as Samsung Galaxy S2 or 3, HTC, Sony Erikson etc
they would also be much appreciated.

I can assure you that I do not
intend to sell the phone on or recycle it for payment, I simply need a new
phone and cannot afford to buy one as I am starting university in 3 weeks and
have two children. I am fed up of using my Nokia brick

Surely as long as the Nokia brick works its better than nothing:eek:
