I had a chuckle at this one...
Wanted: Ostrich costume
Hi, I know this is a long shot, but would be really grateful if anyone has one of those ride-on ostrich costumes that I could have or borrow for a weekend in October. I can collect from any area, at your convenience.
Maybe if you're lucky Bernie Clifton might retire in the next few weeks! We are QPR, say we are QPR!0 -
hello everyone
i am in need of a dyson vacuum working or not for spares.
i build dyson vacs in my spare time and am wanting broken machines that i can strip and use for parts.
any model at all and in any condition.they will not be thrown away but completely stripped and saved if not used.
if anyone has one they no longer use or need i would be very greatfull and can collect from any area at anytime.
and please if anyone is in need of a part that i can help them with just ask and i will do my best to help you.
thankyou all very much and hope to hear from you in the future.
I will then sell them on once repaired to line my pocket with gold coins (or pound notes).loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

I don't honestly see anything wrong with the request. I am not capable of fixing a Dyson and would rather someone had it and repaired it for resale, than take it to the skip. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
I agree with charlies_mum.
Imagine four people each have a busted Dyson.
The default scenario would be that each of them takes their busted Dyson to the tip and they get thrown away (hopefully with some of the parts recycled).
This guy is offering to come round and collect them, do some work on them and end up with three working Dysons at the end of it, and a bunch of spare parts, some of which will be faulty. This is a much better plan. It's better for the previous owners, because they haven't had to go to the tip, and it's better for the environment, because not so much is being thrown away.
But it is only better for the guy doing it if he can make a few quid out of it. And if it's not better for him then he won't do it, and everyone loses out.
As long as he is being honest about it, it's fine by me.
My concern, though, would be that he takes them to a car boot sale as they are. "Yes, love, they're all fully working"...0 -

Requested an item they said I could pick up around lunchtime to avoid school runs. So I said 1pm. The pick up was over 30 miles from my home and I got there dead on 1pm. To find no one in. Had an appt at 1.15pm so was hoping I could be away quick. Luckily had the ladies tel number and phoned her for her to say she was running late back from the shop and could I wait. So I waited she got back at 1.30 ish and i missed my appointment.
Then I offered an item on our freecycle site - MOD (our local lady) requested the item (she seems to be requesting quite a lot of items from me recently) I never had any requesters so offered it to her. I strictly said pick up no later than 6pm as my son has his bath and then goes to bed and is easily disturbed. And she (who should have known better as she always states dont much people around arrives at 6.40pm !!!!!!!
Then today offered this lady lots of car boot items and a bottle of champagne she was genuine said she could collect to suit. So arranged for her to pick up at 8.30 this morning. As leave the house at 8.55 to take my son to nursery which I told her. So 8.30 comes no show. 8.37 had an email from her to say she was just leaving home. She lives about 2 mins from my house. 9am still no show. I had to lug all the bags and boxes out of the garage onto the drive to leave out for her inc the very expensive bottle of champagne. (maybe I should have just locked up and left). Come home items all gone. No email of thanks nothing. No confirmation that she actually came and had the items.
I am so mad with it all I really really really am ready to give up now and just take the lot to the tip. I am sorting out my whole house, garage and loft and trying to live minimalistically and so will have loads more to get rid of shall I just ditch the lot ?
it is examples like this which made me stop using freecycle.
Next time you get a no show or really rude email request do this. Video yourself destroying the item, by any means you see fit, then email them the video!
it will certainly make you feel a whole lot better. You got to get through what you've got to go through to get what you want but you got to know what you want to get through what you got to go through.0 -
Another good one....
10 foot trampoline , 3 piece suite (preferably leather ) 2x single bed frames , these are for a friend, ideally all in good condition.
Thank you
Edited to comply with site rules.
I suppose at least she said thank you. Wonder what it was edited for though?0 -

If you are disillusioned, then why do you want an ex mod to contact you?
Why not contact your local groups moderators and talk to them about your issues?upforgrabs wrote: »Hi
My wife and I are also becoming more than a little disillusioned with freecycle / freegle too!
If there are any EX freecycle or freegle mods who'd like to make contact by PM please do so.0 -

Which, of course, wouldn't have any of the problems of the existing groups...0
