I think it depends on how often they post such wanteds, chickywiggle.
If it's a one-off from this person then I wouldn't have a problem with it. Would be unlikely to give them anything as we do car-boots ourselves from time to time (though have never asked for free stuff to sell there!).
Would much rather this poster's honesty than the sneaky way many others ask the same question.0 -

We've had one tonight asking for nice toys for her child's birthday tomorrow... after the posts earlier in the week asking for party tableware, and the one asking for clothes as well - like shall we just provide the entire birthday for you? What's going to happen if no one logs on tonight and thinks "cripes - I really must give all those toys to that child before tomorrow"... no birthday cos Freegle didn't provide?
I'm growing increasingly annoyed with it to be honest - it's not the requests - its the incessant requests from people who just seem to think the group is under some obligation to underpin and provide for their entire lives.
Heck at the moment I could use baby/toddler clothes - but I know there's no point in requesting - because there'll immediately be about the same 5-6 people who ALWAYS copy any wanted with the same "me toos" on there. It's hit the point where I'm considering landfilling stuff instead of dealing with it at present.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -

Because some people cannot drive, do not have cars and have no public transport available, god forbid that they may even be disabled and unable to!
Someone giving something may even go right past their door daily so it is not a problem to drop something off. Someone may be hanging onto a wedding dress, because we do not like to just throw these away and when seeing someone else wanting to get married and in need of a dress - and willing to use 2nd hand one - would be willing to both give it freely and drop it off (even help modify it to fit)
Receiving payment for the delivery is OK as long as it only covers costs, no profit should be made.
If someone has a wedding dress but is not willing to deliver it then that is upto them, usually when something is offered to someone then they will find some way of getting it, a relative, a neighbour etc.
If someone does not like that someone else says that cannot collect then they are fully able to ignore that person and not give to them, its down to choice.
As a moderator, posts are let through to enable the members to make up their own minds if they want to give, to deliver etc to someone, its is not the moderators job to censor all posts just ensure that they keep to the rules and general ethos of the groups.
Thats why these posts are let through.
I just feel people try to abuse any offerer's goodwill. they are getting something for FREE, should be up to 'wantee' to arrange transport!Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
