'Twas the night before Christmas (Eve) and all through the internet not a creature was stirring but lots of clicking of mice (mouse?)
And the "I need a dishwasher for Christmas Day" posts were flying through the air (can't be bothered to look up how the rest of the poem goes). I await the mandatory Christmas Eve "my child will be bereft on Xmas Day if we can't get a Nintendo DS, games and case for him - have no transport so must be able to deliver" posts.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
tis amazing how many people this week need a table for christmas day - must have x number of chairs etcloves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0

hope everyone had a good christmas.
offered something up today stating soonest to collect would get priority.
out of 6 replies only 1 mentioned they could come today.......... I e-mail them to say ok come tonight and get a reply (at 7pm) saying there was no point e-mailing that's why they gave me a mobile number. I stated in that case I would offer to someone who didn't expect me to ring them and got a load of abuse back.
one reply was from the person who i suspect to be the local boot seller as they ask for everything.
another that expected me to phone them.

They're usually pyramid referral type things. We had one recently, claiming to be a doddering old 61 year old, message as follows:
Hello
I recently received one of those silly iPhone 4 touchscreen phones in
the post as i won it in an easy competition online a week ago. I've no
idea how to use it & its way too bl**dy complex to use at my age of 61,
just dont have the needed patience.
As i got it for free by winning it, its only right to give it away to
someone who'll make use of it, could be an ideal xmas gift.
Let me know if you'd like it & ill pick a random response to give it too
& you can come to collect it anytime.
Thank you to all interested & Merry Christmas.
I replied, only knowingly that I use a secondary address for my freecycle messages, and also that I would be able to report him as I knew the response would be a token "I got mine by doing x, y and z" and non-surprisingly, this was the reply:
Hello all,
I am really sorry to let you know that I no longer have the iPhone 4 as its now been collected by a very grateful Freecycler,
Id like to thank you for all the emails.
Also a really lovely Freecycle member has asked me if I can let her know where I won the iPhone so if she isn’t successful
getting the phone from me then she said she would like to enter the competition too & give it a try. So as a small consolation
to say thank you for the emails the website was: Fr3bies.com it is worth a browse.
I don’t think many people play the competitions on there so there’s more chance of winning and that’s how I won I’m guessing.
The iPhone competition that I won was the first on the iPhone category list and looking at the website they also now have
those weird looking iPad2 devices to give away too.
I don’t know if that’s of any use to anyone but it’s worth a try, after all it is free and you may get one too like I did. I can’t really
think what else I did right but I did enter each competition a few times, one in my details, one in my daughters address and one
in my sons address using their names at their home addresses, so I think it gave me more chance of winning as it was more entries for free.
Thank you all for your time and have a wonderful Christmas & good luck if you bother to enter anything.
All in all confirmed what I thought and no doubt some people may have contributed to his referrals or however these things work. They shouldn't be allowed to post valuable items nor ask for items of value. I know occasionally people post the odd thing of value, but seriously if people DO have genuinely have items of value and have access to the internet, they'll generally sell them on ebay not give them away to the local vultures.
It makes me laugh as one of our boards has a limit on the number of wanted requests you can make, yet the moderation should be in what people can ask for, as people do make the most specific requests. I once asked for an off-cut of wood which was rejected because I had exceeded my designated amount of wanted requests for the month, and yet there are people that continually ask for specific items of furniture, claiming that it is "...just to tide me over" but then stipulating that it must be "...pine, with loose covers, maple effect, brown leather, etc, etc". That to me, is NOT something that will tide you over. If you have nothing or are just starting out, then you really should be grateful for anything.0 -
Does anyone have a working modern floor lamp they no longer want? Something like
a spotlight tree or a chrome lamp, or studio light, about 4ft to 6ft tall? No
standard lamps with chintzy shades though, thanks.import this0 -
Who said they were going on a skiing holiday - it might've been the local dry slope.
Then why would they want ski jackets, boots etc for a dry slope?£2 Savers Club 2016 #21 £14/£250
