We must be in the same group Emma as I saw the satnav post yesterday. I was going to offer him a map!
I'm in a few local groups. He posted the same message in more than one!
Perhaps if he's prone to dropping expensive electrical items a map would be safer for him. :rotfl:

I offered some dog coats on my local group the other day and did explain that they were small and the reason i was giving them away was because they didnt fit my dog, where i got them from and that they still had the labels on, i also offered one that had been used but was still perfectly fine.
the ammount of replys i got from people who's dogs were going to get pnumonia this winter if i didnt give them both dog coats was unbeleivable.
i ended up giving them all to a lady who asked for the used one because she said i should sell the new ones and could she please have the old one to use for her jack russel.
someone had the cheek to ask me, do i happen to have a bed and blankets because it does get cold in the winter and she cant afford them, i was like !!!!!!0 -
Also:
So you had one, and were careless with it so you now expect someone to give you another one? What about insuring valuable things? And why must it be a Garmin?
And:
I can afford to buy, feed and care for a collection of tropical fish but I expect you to give me £100+ of tank for free. Urgently.
Oh that fish tank one made me laugh out loud!
In fairness though, someone might have a large fish tank to get rid of, its the sort of thing my silly husband would buy then realise he doesn't have the time for the upkeep. 'I urgently need to expand my tropical fish collection.....' I urgently need to expand my shoe collection with a pair of Lady Dragon Vivienne Westwoods, any colour but must be a 6, please. Some things might seem unreasonable but actually if someone has it and wants rid of it but can't be bothered to take it to the dump or sell it, then maybe it's not so unreasonable. But a working, expensive piece of electrical equipment....!
I have offered alot of stuff on freegle and freecycle over the years, including a huge shed and a fire surround when we were rennovating our current property. It can make such a difference to some people. It can be hard to get takers at times though - my husband took a large CRt tv to the dump because no one wants them anymore. I did get an 'I'll take it off your hands' e mail earlier though :mad:I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

Oh my love crafting I can't believe someone asked you for bedding as well!! I think generally people are quite polite on the groups I use and no one really takes the biscuit. If I ask for something I normally always offset it by an offer, there is always something lurking unused and taking up valuable space in the cupboard

I thought it was really rude to be honest, i only use it for offering things and generally i get a good response but i just couldnt beleive it0

Lovecrafting, in an otherwise good FC group, such bolshy people do not last long. Their nasty/grasping attitude soon becomes widely known, and after that it's just a matter of time before they realise no one is reading their messages.0

I actually think a fish tank is an ideal thing to put on Freegle. I find it particularly gutting that they don't recycle the glass in them at the tip. We go to all the trouble of saving our glass jars and bottles at home but the council will just landfill large sheets of glass even if you take it to them.
If it keeps it out of landfill then it's a reasonable request.0 -

My son dropped one of his fish tanks (oh the mess!) but we gathered all the broken glass together and also broke the rest out of the frame and put it all in the glass recycling bins. Then all that went into landfill was the frame and lid.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
