  • That would then be a valid reason to sell it on..
She's not offering/selling one, she wants one.

No it was not aimed at you, but at the person who has harassed me to re approve them while I am extremely busy at work and working at home after they had to be removed because they caused a spam problem.

Your Freecycle mod may well have been one of the American imods who have not got a clue about locality in our UK groups too.

Overworked, understaffed, underpaid and in need of a holiday.... :D

I don't think so because a trawl through her name plus freecycle brings up a couple more incidents where she's banned people just for disagreeing with her even though they agree to abide by the rules and one of them was from 2009.

Still all the better for freegle hopefully as it's a lot slower than Freecycle and the reason I do it is genuinely to keep things out of landfill but I have one yahoo mail account and I know if I set up another for freecycle then I'll forget to check it :(

    WANTED: Wedding table centrepieces/vases -
    Mon Sep 12, 2011 3:57 pm

Hi, Do you have vases left over from your wedding that you have no room to store? I would be very grateful if anyone has matching large vases that could be used as centre pieces at a wedding reception I am helping to decorate. I can collect at a time to suit you.
Thank you for reading. I hope someone can help me.

Now as a florist I have lots of these vases and at anywhere from (trade prices) £15 to £70 each, there is no way I could give them away!!!

it depends. My great uncle in law bought a second hand one for £100 about 2 years ago, he only had chance to use it about twice before he passed away. The family tried to resell it (it was immaculate the previous owner didn't use it much either :( ) but it didn't sell so it was donated to an age UK shop.

again, it depends on what exactly you are looking for. One of my friends bought glass fish bowls at about £5 each which I dressed for her as a wedding gift, she had no idea what the heck to do with them all afterwards so stuck them on freestyle and they were snapped up by someone else who was getting married a couple of months later.

Off topic, but what a great idea! Yay for lateral thinking to save money.

And to get us back on topic, this one made me laugh earlier:

Freecycle admins volunteer their time and energies to making the sites work as best they can for all the users.

I understand your frustrations. Due to a bot mugging my main email account a year ago I needed to set up a new account to use FC unmoderated. But as I only ever use FC in a 'read online only' basis, it does not bother me.

It's a waste of your energies to route out past actions of FC admins. And running two email accounts takes very little effort. If anything, I'm glad of the second email account because it gives me an address for registering on commercial sites that send regular ad mail I really do not want in my everyday mail account.

Wishing you all the best with your local Freegle.

I find that request very valid. If you are planning for a child then discover you are expecting twins, it's a shock to the mind and purse! I know it was for my sister.

So what if she's not making a specific request, she's probably still reeling in twin-shock.:rotfl:

ETA: Myself and a few other mums using our local FC make note of the expectant mum's email addresses so we can directly offer clothes and equipment as our babies/toddlers out-grow them.

If you're running around after two or more small children full time, a definite collection (and someone who will definitely use the goods, not ebay them) is better than someone who 'might' show up.

That would then be a valid reason to sell it on.
She's not offering/selling one, she wants one.

    Sorry, I didn't explain myself.
I'm saying that she "wants" one now. But when she gets it she'll "realise" that it's too heavy to use and so will sell it.

We must be in the same group Emma as I saw the satnav post yesterday. I was going to offer him a map!
