  • Chicky has listed above number three on my list of FC annoyances.

Number two is a 'wanted' request followed by a mobile phone number and time of day at which to call.

At the top are those people who come to collect an item, then press their phone number on you, saying, "If you have anymore, just phone me!" ...Err, no, you cheeky beggar!
  • must admit mrs w i've not had the bottom one but i wholeheartedly REFUSE to ring anyone to arrange collection:
    my top 3 are:
    - the above combined with "I NEED a DS/ PS3/ state of the art laptop"
    - "I'll have it ring me on xxxxxxxx"
    - "what colour/ size/ condition/ model/ age is it"...."send me a photo to xxxxxxx"

    then after you have offered:
    - "I can only collect at x o'clock a week tomorrow"
    - "I don't know when I can collect yet will let you know in the morning when i wake up and decide my plans for the day"
    - and those who just don't even bother to turn up!!!

This doesn't bother me, personally, though I'm unlikely to take a photo if the item gets other requests!
It means they really want the item, aren't just asking because they want to sell it on, don't want to waste everyone's time in coming for something that isn't right.
It probably means that they can afford to buy a new / second hand one if your one isn't right. But that doesn't mean they shouldn't be using freegle. It's all about keeping something out of landfill.
If I want a brown sofa and someone wants to get rid of a brown sofa then great, I'll go and get it. Landfill saved.
If I want a brown sofa and someone wants to get rid of a blue sofa then I'll buy one.[/quote]
    then after you have offered:
    - "I can only collect at x o'clock a week tomorrow"
I certainly wouldn't say that after being offered something, but I may request something with these conditions. We're on the edge of two groups so some items are quite a way from us and, unless it's something we desperately need it's not worth travelling all that way for unless we're in the area. I would say in my original email that I wouldn't expect them to save it for me for that time if they get a better offer.
  • Had some strange ones on ours recently.

One member has been posting for garden toys for their two young children; clothes & shoes for them & kiddies (second hand shoes for a toddler - in various sizes to last a while????); cooking equipment; wallpaper; paint; carpet (as paint spilled on their stair carpet); a stroller (have asked weekly for this, as theirs falls apart once a week); card making stuff; slabs & paving edges; school uniform; mirrors & pictures & rugs - all in pink or red or cream; cream and red curtains; a bed; sideboards; and FOOD!!!!

They've actually asked for far more than this (aboout 10 itmes in one ad once a day), but far too much to list. They also ask for the stuff to be DELIVERED as they don't drive!

One member finally got p***ed off with them, after they asked for a Nintendo DS & games, after their child leant someone theirs and it got damaged (all the games too)??? They stopped for a while, but have started up again.

Funny thing is they live near me, and the stuff they were asking for at the time (think it was baking trays & kettle & toaster & microwave all in pink), they already had...they seem to think Freecycle is a Argos catalogue.

We also have a lot of pets on our one - people offering kittens/goldfish & today a Boxer dog! Yet the mods seem disinterested when told.

We also have people offering their 'services' for a fee. Last week 3 different ads, by the same poster, offering his tiling services, computer fixing & mechanic services - all at "competitive" prices!
  • re: buggy board

well i sent my reply to her. turns out it's a complete fabrication anyway!!

she's not "looked everywhere" nor is her son being forced to walk!!
    she can't afford one apparently

now THAT is fair enough but to lie to get what you want -:mad::mad:

I replied to a post like that recently, I buy and sell collectables and often end up with huge amounts of dinner ware glasses etc. Offered an almost full dinner service and several sets fof glasses (most only sets of 5 rather than 6) and was told no thank you she only wants modern stuff. I even argued that a lot of the Meakin and Studio ware was collectable now and very retro- but she really only wanted Ikea. A few days later the same ad went up about her daughter being 'desperate' for something to eat off.

I also put up a whole load of items this week and have had no response for any china, glass ware books etc. The 'good' item I put up attracted a lot of attention although one was just a mobile number with 'call me by 5pm about collection'- really? Does someone honestly think that is going to get any results?
