Anyone heard of Shieldtex/Turner enterprises? and general advice on rendering needed.

My mum has had a quote from a company called Shieldtex to re-render the pebbledashing on the front of the house. She arranged for them to come and discuss it then rather stupidly signed on the spot an agreement to have the work done.
Since then she's been trying to find out more about them and a spot of googling appears to show they are connected to a company called Turner
Enterprises, who may not be all they seem. (Previous name protectacoat?)

Has anyone else had any dealings with any of these companies? And what's the best way to check if they're connected? Mum says she has a 7 day cooling off period, but is now getting concerned that they're going to turn up and do it regardless. They appear to have done the usual spiel on giving a discount on a massively inflated price (7K down to 4K for one wall) if she has an advert up after it's done, and also a supposed £250 back each time they get a referral from her advert. If it seems too good to be true...........

The reason she fell for the instant quote is because she's tried several local people, some say the job is too big for them and others just want to patch it whereas mum thinks it's too far gone to just patch (lots of bubbling and large patches coming off so needs more than a paint job) and wants to make sure it's done properly.
Any advice on how to find someone who's not going to rip her off would be appreciated - she's getting desperate.

Edit - I would also like to add that if any new posters come on saying how wonderful they are, I won't believe you!

One thing to check is are they actually going to re-render or are they just planning on spraying on some sort of coating over what is there already.

They said they were re-rendering, mum was quite clear that's what she wanted. However she's now cancelled, followed up with a recorded delivery letter to be on the safe side. And the phone calls have started.....

Which still leaves us with the problem of how to find anyone reputable as we have no word of mouth recommendations.
    Any suggestions anyone?

In a recession surely they'd be prepared to travel?:D

End of the rainbow aka the Birmingham side of Worcestershire.
Plan B is the county council assured trader scheme, or whatever it's called.

the average LABOUR cost for rendering is approx £22 per square metre.

materials and such forth will double this. also the old will have to be hacked off and disposed of.

if you can give me an idea of the size i will give you a rough price guide.

also would she want it pebbled or smooth as this would alter the price

Bog standard 30's semi - similar look to this, but with less wall to do as there's a one storey utility room along the side passage so it's just the wall above that at the side, and a conservatory at the back which needs working round. Steep drive at the front though and would need scaffolding which bumps things up a fair bit.

No idea of the square meterage at all.
It's rough pebbled at the moment so she'd probably keep it the same unless there was a huge price difference. She was originally looking at getting the dodgy bits done, but closer inspection is showing a lot of bubbling and bits coming away, so she's thinking just bite the bullet and get it over and done with. She's happy to pay a fair price, not just after the cheapest option, as long as it's a good job by someone who knows what they're doing.

Any guesstimates would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help.

is it for entire property or just frontage ( you said original price was for one wall ? )

the average 30's semi is approx 10 metres high (walls , not inc roof )

    ballpark

entire property as described inc pebbledashing £2700 ish inclusive of materials etc
