I have been doing just that, I sent this email to cust services to try to make them realise it will cost them more not to let me leave.
"Unlimited" Landline Calls (3000 minutes) at a wholesale cost to you of at least 0.25p per minute for the termination charge alone, if a customer were to use all of these minutes this would cost Vodafone 0.25p x 3000 = £7.50
"Unlimited" texts (3000 really) at a cost of around 1p per message to Vodafone 1p x 3000 = £30.00
900 Any network anytime minutes, if a customer were to use all of these during peak times during a weekday to another network, lets say 3 mobile for this example, today their MTR is 13.65p per minute lets make it easier and say 13p per minute = 13p x 900 = £117.00
Data costs you money obviously otherwise we would not have even spoke today but i do not know the cost of this but as you are going to charge users £5 a month for 500mb lets say £2 cost.
If we add all these up we come to a staggering £156.50 a month.
This is what a customer could cost you while they are only paying £40.00 a month.
but chances are if you make as many calls as that, you will receive that many calls and they will make it back that way.
they didn't give you that allowance in ignorance. The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits0 -

Well you don't necessarilly receive as many calls as you make. Quite a few of my friends have a much smaller call allowance so they know that instead of calling me they can send me a text and I'll call them back! Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -

Most people have an old handset lying around, its easy to stick a payg sim in it and phone yourself :rotfl:TESCO EVERY LITTLE change to the t&cs HELPS0 -

I dont trust vodafone one bit, quicker I can get out now the better. Ive sent my cancellation letter in so it will be interesting to see what I get back now.0 -

As I mentioned earlier, they seem to have accepted my cancellation letter as they cashed the cheque that was with it marked in full and final settlement. I wouldn't give them much room to play to be honest mate. They are definitely in the wrong on this.0 -
Well I havent sent them any cheque, I was just hoping to see what they say.
Everytime they call me they just tell me to wait until i'm called then they will give me options that will include termination without penalty.
I just dont trust them, and from a legal point of view dont know where I stand because they are still sticking by the 'nothing has changed' and haven't really published anything official or notified anyone of any changes.0 -

They have published something official - the announcement on the eForum. They have announced that they are introducing new charges, but have not yet announced the date by which they will be introduced. I am arguing with them that the date of introduction is irrelevant - the fact that they have announced changes should be enough to terminate. There is nowhere in the T&Cs that states termination may only be done no more than x days before a change is implemented.

Something is deffinately changing, thats new the new charge of £5 per 500mb. Arguably they are also removing your unlimited data and replacing it with a 500mb bundle. I think you could win this arguement on multiple grounds. They will just claim it's enforcing the unlimited FUP...
I wouldn't trust them either, my view was that if I ask them if I can cancel they will always say no, if I tell them I'm cancelling they have to chase me for payment if they're not happy...0
