"We are now getting some unconfirmed reports that atleast 2 members of public, AndyWicks and CaptainD have managed to cancel their contracts. The named members received their PAC codes yesterday.
We are still awaiting more details from them, as to how they managed to come out of the tyrant's jaws.
In other news today, ...."SAY NO TO INJUSTICE !

Thats good news, further details on how this was managed would be greatly appreciated0 -
Yes, got my PAC code yesterday- was 3 months into a £45 per month contract so am temporarily without phone.
Luckily I've just found this great deal on the internet:
http://www.nokiaretail.co.uk/Brands/Nokia/Nseries-Multimedia-Phones/sb489/p26078.htm
Thats pretty sweet, looks like £15 a month LESS than what I was paying originally......unlimited internet too!! Doesn't look like a fair use policy applies to that one either so that will be perfect for my data-hungry applications!!
Looks like I'll be returning to the fold then, Dammit Vodafone, why didn't you tell me about this fantastic deal on the phone the other day?
Man, some people are such timewasters
Are you going to send it back? That sucks if so0 -

Believe me when I say, the LAST thing I want to do right now is take another contract out with those fools.
That was very tongue in cheek, just drawing attention to the fact that they have obviously not informed their supply/distribution network of these changes and as such are still selling unlimited tariffs, even up to today.
Although I'm not denying it would be fairly satisfying to take that deal and end up paying them less money than I would of in the first place had they not tried to hustle me.
Not as satisfying as not paying them anything though, mind. I won't forget they way they've treated me and I shan't be returning in a hurry.
Bottom line= hateful, wretched service; product not as described; don't stick to agreements and not only can they not be trusted, seems the staff are actually instructed and paid to lie to their customers.
VF contract, anyone?0 -
Captain D,
Can you confirm which letter that you sent them to cancel etc. That will at least give the rest of us a glimmer of hope.
Cheers,

I didn't send them anything, nor do I intend to. One operator asked me for 30 days notice, I said they can basically whistle for it as I never got any notice from them. Brief period on hold then mutual verbal agreement. They arranged a courier to pick the phone up 2 days later and pac code received yesterday.
I know I was lucky, I caught them totally off-guard early on in the scandal.
I'd really really like to wait until I'm out of the woods and home and dry first before doing anything rash; but when my new phone is in my hand and the vf contract is toast maybe there is a reference number I could post here or something?
Anyone having trouble could maybe reference my account it to the cancellations team and demonstrate that it is indeed possible to be released from a contract under these circumstances with no written notice- demand the same treatment from them?
Would this help anyone do we think?0 -
I really dont see how they can collect the phone.
What if you'd purchased your phone from, say, Carphone Warehouse? The phone in that case is nothing to do with them - they simply pay CPW a pile of comission for a new airtime agreement, and CPW spend some of that comission on providing you with a handset. The sale of the phone is between you and the retailer and NOT you and the network.
Having to give the phone back goes against the principle of being able to cancel without penalty, especially as you could simply pay the contract off (Don't forget the 25% discount and zero VAT on terminations) and sell the phone to cover the cost of this.0 -

Totally agree, the "device" will and remains the property of the customer, not the provider. Vodafone are ripping you off. It is clearly stated in the contract T&Cs that you own the phone set!SAY NO TO INJUSTICE !
