HTC Desire Vodafone 500mb Fair Usage Policy

But at the rate of £1 per 1MB would you want to even risk taking an 'always on' phone on the continent? I'm not confident I could switch everything off to be able to use the phone abroad but avoid data charges.
The first major update for maemo was 90MB I believe- almost 1/5 of your monthly download allowance and £90 if you are roaming.
The point I was making is with regard to any updates on these phones you are now going to have to make some sacrifices to be able to apply them under their current policy. Or pay for it.0 -

My recent post from the eForum (in case it gets edited or deleted)
I suppose when people talk about "can't cancel", it means "can't cancel without penalty" generally. I suppose it all comes down to what could be proven in a court of law, if challenged.
I am so surprised, that so far out of so many posters, not one lawyer has come forward!
Did Vodafone intentionally not sell any of its contracts to any lawyer in the country? Either that or that they are too busy to come on the forums to check out the mess...SAY NO TO INJUSTICE !

I just got my first ever smartphone ten days ago (Desire) and it has the option to switch off all data when roaming, ie when outside the UK. So all I am able to do is get calls/texts and use wifi. I can turn on roaming data if I wish but it's under a couple of menus so thankfully not easy to do. I'm sure every smartphone has this. I'm on a trip right now and have not used a kb on data for 7 days. If I can work it out, anyone can!0 -

I had an HTC Desire on a 500MB limit. The Desire was faulty and VF swapped it for the Nexus One but I remained on the same airtime arrangment. The Nexus has a different tariff though. But I am still on the 500MB limit. The Nexus has a 1GB limit and free WiFi0

Hi Karatedragon
How did you manage that, I enquired about returning my Desire for the Nexus 1 and got told that Vodafone cannot discount any deals on the N1 , so the cheapest deal they could offer me was the N1 on £40 per month0 -

I did have some trouble with Vodafone from the outset. Not sure if it was a goodwill thing. My problems were:
(1) My number would not accept any calls or texts from anyone outside of Vodafone. This took seven days to fix.
(2) The HTC Desire was faulty. They confirmed it as faulty and asked if I wanted a like for like replacement or something else and I asked what they had and the guy seemed keen on pushing the Nexus One. They then replaced it with an HTC Desire. This was then swapped for the agreed Nexus One, which since researching it seems better IMO than the Desire.0 -
"We are now getting some unconfirmed reports that atleast 2 members of public, AndyWicks and CaptainD have managed to cancel their contracts. The named members received their PAC codes yesterday.
Requesting a PAC is not the same as cancelling a contract.
If you request a PAC and don't use it then the PAC expires after 30 days and you continue on wioth your contract as norrmal. For this reason using the PAC, not requesting it ,usually triggers cancellation and any charges.
As has been said you can cancel your contract at any time, the question is will you get an early termination fee. This won't be clear until you get your last bill.0 -

Most likely any debt would be chased for a few months then passed to debt collectors. Unlikely VFD would do it directly, the sell them on to others who do.0
