Totally agree, the "device" will and remains the property of the customer, not the provider. Vodafone are ripping you off. It is clearly stated in the contract T&Cs that you own the phone set!
This is going from bad to worse, first they try to steal from my wallet, the next thing they are sending people round my house to steal my stuff......0 -

Assuming you have received your PAC code now;
If I were you, I will read the T&Cs completely to find out the specific clause, which states that the "equipment" is your property (I read it sometime back, so I remember seeing it). And since you will have already received your PAC code and cleared your accounts with Vodafone, just ignore the courier if he ever comes.
Keep us posted though.SAY NO TO INJUSTICE !

Ah no unfortunately I didn't get the pac code until they acknowledged receipt of the handset.
Just put the pac code to use and signed up with T-mob for 18 months. £35 a month, 900 mins, 500 txts and 1GB soft data- saving £10 on what I was paying originally.
Shall I request a final bill from vf and pay it by cheque? ie cancel d/debit?
I don't trust them at all any more, I don't want to give them any further opportunity to let me down.0 -
Cant catch up all those pages i missed for 4 days, here's what i got from vodafone after sending my letter to guy lawrence..
Looks like they are scrapping the idea?? or just telling me bull**???
mentions FUP in here......
by the way, we need to receive the text by Sunday if there is going to be any change on the 1st june;)Dear Mr xxxxx
Guy Laurence has passed your email to me as I am responsible for investigating matters raised with him.
Firstly let me offer my apologies for the experience you have had, whilst trying to obtain some clarity on this matter. I can assure you that this will be addressed internally.
Last week we sent an incorrect test message in error to a small number of customers informing them that they are coming up to the top end of the bundle and they would be charged if they went over. This has caused some confusion so we want to set the record straight and clarify what we're doing.
We are launching a free service on June 1st by alerting those customers who consistently use more than their data allowance. This alert will say we will review your spend and if you continue to use more data than your allowance consistently over the coming months, we'll contact you to have a chat about your usage and offer an alternative data plan to avoid incurring out of bundle charges. That means you will be able to manage your usage more effectively. We're also giving clarity to what these data rates are, for out of bundle charges.
Given you are already reaching your allowance and in some cases are over, from June 1st, you will start to receive an alert to say you've gone over your allowance. We will be tracking your usage, and in the following months if your usage continues to be over your data allowance, we will contact you to discuss alternatives (including for example, upgrading to one of our mobile broadband plans) and that you could incur charges.
As you know we have a Fair Usage Policy and for the vast majority of customers, they do not use more than their data allowance. This Fair Usage Policy has always formed part of your price plan Terms and Conditions and due to this we are not in a position to allow you to cancel your contract without penalty
I trust this clarifies Vodafone's position.

Have been watching this thread for a few days with interest...
Vodafone seem to have done a good job of cleaning up their website recently to remove any reference to "unlimited". Or have they...
select desire -> £25/month 24 month contract -> select "full details" -> "special offer" tab
It is the same on the £40/month 24-month tariff too.
Screen grab anyone (I have done them both but wouldn't know where to start trying to display it here)?
Regarding the screen grab posted above, it does say that the contract comes with +500MB of mobile data, but that is preceded by "Buy today and get" which makes it sound like it is additional to the package listed on the rest of the page and an incentive for buying now (like saying - "buy today and get a free protective case/insurance etc.").0 -
Was you expecting him to say anything other than that BS?
Considering the size of this balls up, very few people seem to be cancelling...0 -

All the tarifs for the phone come with internet.BW: When describing mobile data allowances in the past, Vodafone has described them as “unlimited, subject to FUP”. It’s clear that Vodafone are imposing hard limits on data usage now (which will incur charges if breached more than twice) – what would you say to customers who feel they’ve been mislead by claims of unlimited data?
Jakub Hrabovsky, Head of Web Relations: Vodafone’s always referred to unlimited as subject to FUP as you say and we’ve always said that customers will be charged for out of bundle usage. However, when we sell our handsets (like the HTC Desire) we’re not selling those on unlimited plans. The reason for this is that we believe that it’s only fair to our customers.TESCO EVERY LITTLE change to the t&cs HELPS0 -

I know and wasn't questioning that - I was just pointing out that their website is still indicating "unlimited" internet if you look in the right places. I wasn't sure if the screen grab you had posted was taken before or after Jakub made his comments.0 -

Ah okay. In that case, they have made quite a few changes to their website this evening, and they will no doubt clean up the two examples I found shortly.0
