Ah okay. In that case, they have made quite a few changes to their website this evening, and they will no doubt clean up the two examples I found shortly.

Its just been pointed out that they also couldnt even decide on how many minutes/texts you get either (the red simcard says 75 mins 250 texts yet the tarrif states 100 mins and 500 texts)...:rotfl:

Nope! Perhaps they should amend the statement about "fantastic customer service" while they are busy tweaking the site...

:Have just been reading the roaming charge announcement and it states

You will not be not able to cancel your account as a result of the imminent pricing change for data roaming. Data roaming is an additional service, outside of the core UK services we offer. We are providing the required 30 days notice to inform our customers of the changes.

Tom: when are we getting the "official" notification about the changes to the 'unlimited' internet??

Someone's posted on the VF forum thread that they've called customer relations to ask that question, the reply from Vodafone apparently was: "we're saying it's not a change so you may get notification but we don't know."

So it looks like they might not even bother to inform their customers, class act Vodafone.

Another reason to cancel the contract-

Smart phones require software updates, some of them may address security concerns and may be critical to the operation of the handset.

You should not have to pay for such updates, regardless of where in the world you are. Some of these can be large files and cost a minimum of £10 according to the roaming charges.

£1 per MB is wholly unaccepable anyway, even more so when its for something that vodafone have a duty to provide for free!!

Tom: Next time I go on holiday and someone steals my personal data as a result of me delaying a software update due to these excessive roaming charges; can you confirm that vodafone will be responsible for any loss or damage that occurs as a result.

Also, can you confirm that these updates should form part of the 500MB data allowance if I choose to download them in the UK?

Oh for goodness sakes! That really is taking this whole thread way too far!! If, like me, you travel and don't wish to pay for data then do as I do and either switch off roaming data or use free wifi in your hotel, restaurants, etc.

If someone steals your personal data due to a security glitch, then it's safe to assume you must have your data switched on in the first place which means you are obviously happy to pay for the data or you'd have it turned off!!!

Honestly, there are some real and genuine concerns in this enormous thread that VF should be addressing - but there's also a hell of a lot childish whingeing and pettiness.

I am unsure where all of this "can't cancel" stuff comes from. Anyone can request a PAC, and they may be given an early termination charge/fee. Not sure if Vodafone would try and take this to court given the wealth of evidence supporting the customers in regards to them trying to enforce a hard cap on the Mobile Internet allowance.

My recent post from the eForum (in case it gets edited or deleted)
Right - fairly lengthy and productive call to Amanda at Vodafone. Must say that she has been excellent in terms of answering questions on the telephone and making any position clear.

Whether after June 1st, or since January 22nd when i took up a retentions deal to renew my phone contract with Vodafone they are adamant that i have been subject to a 500Mb limit with a Fair Use Policy in place. Although polite when discussing it when informed that this is simply not what i was sold, and it is also backed up by numerous conversations with 191 staff, retail phoneshop staff, and many many posts on the Vodafone eForum in regards to 500Mb not being a hard limit above which you would be charged their position is such that this is the deal i am signed up to.

I enquired about my early termination fee should i request a PAC code, and this is £484.39. My contract expires i believe in January 2012 (although i can't quite work this out as i renewed for 18months in January of this year - but that's not relevant). 18 x my contracted bill of £17.50 is £315, so the excess termination fee appears to be ~£170.

I need to do more checking - but as i understand it this fee can be disputed, and only if i am taken to court for failing to pay it can there be any adverse affect on my credit record. Does that sound right?

It's a shame really - obviously Vodafone were prepared to give me the benefit of the doubt when it came to £45 worth of contract cockup - which took me several hours on the telephone and via email to get redunded to me, but when it comes to £315 of missold contract that is obviously too rich for them.

I can only assume that if i had another Vodafone tariff with them that it too would be held to ransom and suspended should i decide to stop paying the one in dispute? I actually would prefer not to leave as i will no longer have a strong signal at home, but i feel so disappointed by Vodafone that i may have to "cut off my nose to spite my face". I'll have to see if either i should leave and join elsewhere on one of the many excellent deals on the HTC Desire, or possibly piggyback my brothers contract or another family member and simply pay them up front for my modest mobile phone bill.

    A very disappointed essex_chris
