They are still continuing with their existing Fair Usage Policy, but they are now deciding to enforce it.

I have to disagree with that... What they are doing is a massively underhand way or capping you... If they intend on charging you for use over 500mb, then your capped at 500mb... There's no fair use about it... They're saying it's still unlimited and fair use because they're saying they won't charge you the first two times it happens but after that they will, so it becomes capped...

The rest of what your saying I agree with tho :)

I've made a point of writing a fairly specific enquiry this morning to send back to the director office email that i received an email from yesterday after speaking to Amanda on the telephone.

I would certainly like to confirm the validity of posts on the eForum in regards to answering the questions that have been raised. The email i received yesterday was a quite basic text mentioning 3% of customers, a mistakenly sent text message, and a free service alerting customers - but nothing of any real substance.

So far the response i have had in regards to clearing up problem on my account has been more than satisfactory in terms of resolving issues so i hope this will continue.

I have now received a response to this email. Unfortunately it is surprisingly short and has no reply.
    Hi Chris

I have forwarded you our official position as this moment in time.

I hope that this clarifies your issues.

    Kind Regards

Thank you for replying. So the extent of any official position is as per your previous email - should i disregard the Vodafone posts on the Vodafone eForum? It's just that they seems to be quite specific, whereas the email i received was a bit vague.

I must admit given the helpful discussion on the phone, resolving of my tariff issues and then another unexpected call to apologise for telling me i would get a letter i am surprised at this response.

Been out for a little bit, have they answered this one:

if I continully go over my allowance for the next 3,4,5 months will I be charged and will it be at the rate Ive been told of £5 per 500mb?

    If the answer is no:
what is the difference to how it is now then?

    If the answer is yes:
can you call me so I can cancel contract under clause 11.2

I've scanned the beginning and then the last few pages of this explosive thread and as a VF customer just moved to my first smartphone, please tell me if I am missing something here: From what I have read on the VF Forum mentioned earlier on this page, VF are NOT charging automatically whenever you go over 500mB in a mth. They say they will advise you and only if you continuously exceed the FUP will you be charged.

Now my impression is that this is exactly what a FUP is, and is the way I have always read the policy. Where in the reply from this 'Tom' fellow is it clear that they WILL charge you if you go over the 500mb from the off?

    Have I missed something obvious??

The big change is in the small details fellow.

They have "introduced" a new £5 charge, if you "abuse" your 500MB FUP.

Except they appear to have clarified that ANY use above 500mb is excessive and abuse.

    505mb = 3000Mb apparently.

You have not missed something. They are going to be enforcing the existing Fair Usage Policy which is in all of our contracts.

However, following the latest clarification from Tom, Vodafone are still implementing a change to the conditions of our contracts as of 1st June. They are introducing a charging structure (£5 per additional 500MB) that did not previously exist. If you used more than 500MB per month up until now there was no charge for this. From 1st June, following the announced process, you will be charged extra for the same levels of usage. This is where the issue lies...

Ok, so if we go over the 500mb for a few mths at a time we will ultimately get charged £5/500mb. I thought that under my existing contract (which I only started this mth after upgrading) the FUP meant that if I abused it I would eventually be charged something. Surely that's what FUP means? Otherwise it is truly 'unlimited' (yes, I know that's another point of contention but let's put that to one side for a moment).

Had their been no mention of a FUP in the original contract, then yes, I see the obvious problem. I'm not trying to be difficult here (or trolling as you guys put it) - I seriously don't see the problem except for someone who is intentionally going to exceed their limit every month and hope to get away with it for free.

Please to say that i have received a very prompt reply.
    Dear Chris
At this moment in time I would suggest that is the best option. Our official position is as my e mail.
I hope this clarifies the matter for you.

At this point i should be ignoring what gets posted on the eForum as this is what i asked

In this case i will be phoning up and requesting my PAC code, along with giving notice that my intentions are to leave, and i will have to follow this up with a reply to Amanda by email.

Disappointing end to all of this. Going to have to go look around very clearly and determine exactly what i'm getting myself in for.
