I do not understand what you guys are all arguing about.

Vodafone have conceded both in writing on their message boards and verbally (to me and others) that the change of their policy from "unlimited internet with a FUP" to "internet with a defined fixed cap" DID count as a change in the terms of contract/agreed tariff and thus DID give any affected customers the legal right to end their contract early.

The FIRST thing that Andrew guy from Vodafone said to me when he rang me was that "I have to first advise you that legally you ARE permitted to end your contract with Vodafone without penalty should you choose to do so"

Vodafone perhaps could have argued that it wasn't a change - although I dont think that would have held up in courts - but they didn't. End of story.

Would you be so kind as to give a link to the acceptance of Vodafone that it is a change to their t&c's.
I am in the process of cancelling my contract and it would be useful to have it to hand to quote..
If there is a Vodafone rep on here who would like to discuss my cancellation i'd like to speak to you please.
  • Well guys got an email today telling me my online bill was up to view. Tried to login and couldnt so I contacted vodafone customer services.

    They sent me this reply

    Hi Mark,
As your account is cancelled you won't be able to access your online account. You will receive the final bill at your account address in 3 - 4 working days.
Mark, the final bill amount is £437.04 and this amount will be debited from your Direct Debit on 22nd October 2010.
We look forward to take care of you in future.
    Kind regards,

    Tausif Mahadik

So it seems they are trying to charge me an early termination fee despite Andrew saying otherwise. I have replied to Vodafone telling them that I have cancelled my direct debit and when they rectify this mistake I will send them a final cheque.

    Anyone else having this problem?
  • As far as I understand, if you cancel your contract for any reason before its minimum term has ended their computers say you are charged xxx amount. Then the cancellation team tell the computers to wave whatever amount should be taken off your final bill, and you are only charged this amount.

I found this out when I was told with some certainty by customer service that my final bill was going to be 'three hundr... err wait a moment sir... ah I see there has been an adjustment, I cannot tell just yet but I think about £19 something as although the bill has been generated it is not your final bill'.

Try customer service again and tell them why you are leaving, speak to them don't email them.
  • i got the text this morning but obviously wasn't able to access it online.

Just called and asked for my final bill total. Was put on hold for about 5 minutes before being told £1.09.

I have my PAC and have been waiting 10 days for a call back, I was told it would be between 10 and 15 days.... takes the mic tbh
  • You obviously have little to no expertise or experience regarding these matters but are pompous enough to believe you should try to put consumers off pursuing a course of action you now admit will result in the outcome they seek. You haven't addressed points 1, 2, 3 or 4.

One Vodafone customer at Bitterwallet wrote: 'I have just spoke[n] to someone in the magical HQ office – said the department had 5 people in it and about 10,000 customers to deal with and couldn’t believe how some people had been treated. The upside is I have a free HTC desire on a 18th month contract with 1.5gb of data usage'. About 10,000 = a few dozen in your myopic world.

You are the weakest link. Goodbye.

I don't blame anyone taking Mobile companies to court. They would do it to us soon enough if we flouted the rules or didn't pay on time.
  • Submitted my complaint to Otelo. Vodafone think they have a right to change the terms of my contract and I have no say in the matter! Will just wait and see what Otelo decide...

Otelo have already indicated they cannot overrule Vodafone on this change as it is a 'commercial decision'. The only time you may be able to raise your issue with them is if they have treated you differently in a similar situation to another customer, for instance if they have told you that you are unable to cancel despite proving you will be worse off under these changes and you are aware of another customer who they allowed to cancel.

    Remember who funds Otelo.
