So what is going on with this. I have now been sorted with Vodafone but I don't want the resolution to be taken away by them.

It's not like the broadband situation where people going way over limits are doing so by downloading excesively huge amounts of stuff.

Most of us are just using our phones normally in the way they were designed. 20 minutes of youtube on the higher quality setting uses hundreds of mb alone, for example!

Why sell devices preloaded with these applications if you penalise users for actually using them?

In what way is it not like broadband. A few people have been going OTT and everyone suffers. A hundred plus mb video is probably far too high resolution for a mobile screen, why bother wasting your data allowance on a high res version you can't see right on a mobile screen anyway.

The preloaded argument is really a red herring, most phones don't come with these apps from the vendor, they are preloaded by the network, who then want to charge you for data. Even if they didn't come on people will install them.

If you were that bothered you could preload the you tube file to your phone on your home network and save data costs.

Ohhhh gjchester doesn't understand the concept of all this.

He has a Nokia 2110 or 5110 or something.

I think it is disgusting that Vodafone are in effect rewarding people who have abused the Fair Usage Policy on these plans.

Those that have basically ripped the excrement out of the 500MB limit are being offered new handsets worth 100s of pounds, exiting a committed period with no penalty costing upwards of £300- 500+ and cheaper line rental with browsing bigger limits with no extra cost.

Those that actually stuck to the agreement and used less or just slightly over the Fair Use Policy from time to time get NOTHING but are probably subsidising the costs of those that get away scott free in their subscriptions.

What is Vodafone going to give those that have actually stuck to the deal.

This is a case of be naughty and get a lollipop.

I agree with you on this point.

I was one of those people that once vodafone declared on their eForum, that a charge would be introduced, started using data on my handset. For the first two months of the contract, I stayed with the 500MB limit, once the announcement was released, I regularly used between 1.5GB - 1.9GB. Most of the time, I was using the beebPlayer app to stream a program (something like a grand prix race - nice and long) overnight whilst I slept. I didnt even bother watching the damn thing.

However I lay the blame at vodafones doorstep, if they would allow customers to cancel easily, due to the introduction of charges, then I wouldnt have gone down this route. Since they are playing dirty, I played dirty as well. It should not matter if you use more than 500MB of data or not. Vodafone have changed the T&Cs, therefore every customer effected, should be able to cancel.

I dont feel I got away scott free, I just feel annoyed that vodafone has forced customers to go down this route to cancel.

And you were doing so well. If you have to resort to cheap jibes as a response theres nothing much more I can say.

I do understand the concept, you signed up to what the salesman sold you as unlimited without reading the small print that defined the FUP as 500MB.

You don't like the FUP of 500MB being sold as unlimited, well sorry the ASA does not agree with you, if you want to complain I gave you the link, but it will be dismessed as they've already ruled on it.,

Unfortunaly because of abuse of a minority Vodafone (and all the other mobile companies) have started to enforce the fair use policy, and you don't like it.

Your beef is with the Salesman who sold it to you as truely unlimited. Vodafone have had the FUP on there POS material for at least a year, you just let yourself be lead by the salesman.

bit harsh... i'd call it reasoned argument!

They are good handsets. I love the 10 Megapixel camera on the 2110.

No, his and everyone elses is that it is no longer a FUP but a hard cap. With the FUP you could go over the 500Mb every so often and not get charged, or if you went over too much they could throttle your connection.
My main gripe is the underhanded way voda have gone about changing the terms and how completely useless the CS staff have been.

I have sent in a letter, which was signed for on 29 Sep, and sent 19 emails now. I have not had a single answer to my questions and no response to my letter. Every email reply completely ignores what I am asking, it is as if a computer scans it for key words and sends a reply based on those words.

Any advice on where to go now as my last 3 emails have just been ignored?
