I don't think you need to send a letter to cancel. I certainly didn't and they allowed me to cancel without EFT. it did take a few emails and some calls to customer service though. I explained to the woman in CS that since taking my contract out in Nov 2009 I have had no written correspondence from Vodafone. None whatsoever. It has all been electronic. I asked how I can start a contract over the phone but not end one? Doesn't make much sense. She spoke to her manager and agreed I could cancel by email. She noted my account and she emailed me confirmation which I then copied into the contact us section on vodafone. A few days later I had my PAC and now away from Vodafone for good!0

I don't know how to get this sorted. Bloody 18 Month Contracts. If I wasn't tied in I would have more power by just leaving.0

For those of us with PAC codes in our hands, how long do we have to use this ?
I sent in my termination notice on 29/09 and received the PAC code on 01/10. So when is the last date to use this ?

A small number of people have managed to get out without a written letter, everyone else who is having problems should be writing that letter and posting it by recorded post. Then pester the director's office and you should get results.0

Roustabout is right. They should be offering exits to EVERYONE on these plans and making it easy - Send a letter with a slip at the bottom where you tick "I want to cancel", "I want to stay the same" or "Please call me to arrange a different price plan". Sign it and then return it. Bingo - Job done.0

30 days from date of issue, after that it's void and I suspect you'll no be issued another as you chose not to use it in the window. By not using it your choosing to remain with vodafone and I guess accept the new T&C's
And you'll be charged 30 days rental too once used in lieu of notice.0 -
Under clause 11b the change to these price plans is of significant disadvantage and also the 10% clause applies in the cases of the FUP abusers. Those that didn't frequently abuse the FUP have been put at significant disadvantage because they cannot cancel due to Vodafone's made up rules and now if they do go over they will be hit with a £5 charge.
Vodafone should have played an even hand and written properly (via snail mail) to all customers on the plan and not by text telling them of the change.
In my opinion they should have withdrawn the plan all together and placed everyone on the equivalent 30 day rolling plan with a Hard Cap. This would give everyone the options of staying with Vodafone with the original handset, converting the plan to a new "contract" and gain a handset upgrade re-committing them to Vodafone under new network usage terms OR for those that really hated Vodafone the option to give 30 days notice and leave. This should have been explained in a PROPER written letter to each customer on the plan.
I would wager many people would not have left if they had done this and stayed on the 30 day plan until they wanted an upgrade in the future. You would of course have those that were adamant and hard nosed on leaving. But does it make sense for Vodafone to keep them anyway. You don't hold onto a girlfriend you get to dislike. You dump them. Mind you even this course of action might have thrown such people and instilled new faith in Vodafone to make them stay.
Instead Vodafone made up their own exit rules and piiisssed everyone off to boot. Especially those that did not use the magic 501MB in August. This has encouraged people to abuse the FUP because they knew they could get out or get upgrades or whatever if they fitted the made up rules by Vodafone.
I was not a hard nosed abuser of the FUP but I have been sorted out now thankfully.0 -

thats not strictly true. i double checked with Andrew who confirmed that my contract will end when my PAC is activated and that is the date to which i'll be billed. There are a different set of rules than when you come to the end of your contract. The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits0 -

they should have just rolled out the new data caps to new customers and left all their existing customers alone. 24 months later all customers are on the new deal and no one got upset and noone had the opportunity for early termination.
i am sure they knew what they were doing. it'll all have been calculated that the income for the customers who got away will be more than made up for by the increasing use of data and the resulting £5 charges from the low data cap.The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits0 -

Hopefully your right, but you never come to the end of a contract as such if you get a PAC code. If you get a 18 month contract thats a minimum term, not a fixed term.
If you have put in a cancellation request then ask for a PAC code the PAC request cancels the cancellation request as the line needs to be active to port. As such your a standard contract and by breaking it pay 30 days notice.
Don't use the PAC and you stay on the standard contract which is a 30 days notice contract.
I suspect regardess of what your told you'll be treated according to the standard rules and have to pay 30 days.0
