HTC Desire Vodafone 500mb Fair Usage Policy

After sending a letter to them on the 16th September, I received my PAC this afternoon (which came as a shock).
In the letter to them, I stated the 3 things they required (from a post by Tom@Vodafone on the Vodafone forums). These were: 1) Saying I had recevied the warning text, 2) Evidence I had gone over the 500MB monthly limit, 3) Saying the new charges would increase my monthly bill by more than 10%.
Do you know if they send a confirmation letter in the post, or do we just receive the PAC?0 -
those that have received their pac codes speak to vodafone to find out whats going on - Ive just received mine and spoken to them - they sent me a letter advising they will not cancel my contract under the 10% rule (but thats another argument) and if I wish to cancel I will need to pay the minimum charge for the remainder of hte contract period (Jan 2011) - after receiving my PAC code they have advised they have sent it to me 'in case I want to cancel' BUT if I use it I will be charged the full early termination fee...:mad:0

I got my PAC code and have no idea what is going on. I sent them an email demanding the termination with no ETF and my PAC code and they have acknowledged receipt on Saturday then I get my PAC code today..... it seems like a trap0 -

Bit of a worry as I clearly said in my letter; please send me a PAC without any early termination fees.0 -
I got a call from vodafone today with the 3 options. The 1.5GB option, included unlimited texts and 300 minutes for £15 a month, in a 12 month contract.
BTW, the guy said at the start of the conversation that "For legal reasons, I must make it clear that you are permitted to end your contract early without penalty as we (vodafone) have changed the terms of your contract".
If anyone is fighting managers on this, you should be aware that as long as the new charges are going to increase your bill by > 10% based on the past 1-3 months usage, then you definitely have the right to quit your contract without penalty. Make sure you do it before Oct 1st because afterwards you may not be legally covered.0 -

i am fed up fighting managers on this but keep getting nowhere and always end up in an argument about when a FUP is not a FUP and whether the new £5 per 500MB charge is indeed a new charge or not.
Are there magic legal terms that you need to say before you are granted your right to leave?
i was offered £5 off my line rental this morning and a £20 goodwill payment both of which i declined.
The email/paper trail i have dating back to 6th Sept should be good enough to prove that i have been trying cancel my contract since long before the 1st Oct deadline. The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits0 -
as of the 1st Oct vodafone will have acted illegally by not offering the opportunity to terminate our contracts without penalty.
In that case would we be in the right to cancel Direct Debit and write to VF stating that we are with-holding payment whilst the dispute continues and take it to OFCOM/Trading Standards?
edit : i just contacted OFCOM for advice... their advice was to call OTELO who are now closed for the day. The OFCOM guys position was that if Vodafone have published a list of conditions, and you meet them, but Vodafone are not releasing you then there is a contractual dispute that OTELO should take up on your behalf. The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits0 -
Hi folks,
I am getting a little freaked out right now, since 1st Oct is around the corner. Despite my usage being clearly above 500MB over past few months, I have not receieved any text warning from Vodafone at all.
I am confused and unsure about what step I should take to safeguard myself now. What would you guys advice me ?
CheersSAY NO TO INJUSTICE !

I am getting concerned. I sent a letter to the HQ address shown on the VF forum about cancelling by First Class Recorded Mail on Friday 24th Spetember and it hasn't been signed for yet.
I also sent the same letter today by 1st Class non recorded and by 1st Class Recorded again to be on the safe side.0
