Just a word of warning to anyone that has received a PAC and used it already.
I had an email from VF stating that they were going to cancel my contract FOC. There was no mention of receiving a PAC, so I called them and requested one.
FastForward to the email today to say that my online bill was ready to be viewed. Guess what...as soon as your PAC is used, your online access is cancelled - so I can't get in to view the bill.
I called customer service via their 0870 number (as obviously can't dial 191 anymore) and lo and behold - ETF has been added to my account.
I asked the c/s rep. to review the notes on my account, and she was able to confirm that I had received an email stating no ETF, so she did a quick recalculation, and wiped the £350(ish) off my bill. Got her name and call reference number, so I can always use that as evidence if I need to me a direct debit claim to get the money back.
To be fair, she was very efficient and calm, and we got a quick satisfactory resolution.
So - just be prepared for another call to VF to make sure that they haven't billed you for something that you were previously told you wouldn't be. (Imagine that eh..?)
Anyhow - hopefully...that's the last I'll hear from VF about this account.
Good luck to the rest of you that are still trying. Keep going! So long as you genuinely meet the cancellation criteria, you'll get where you want to be eventually.

Yeah, I won't be at all surprised if my final bill contains an ETF. I've had it confirmed by several Vodafone staff that I won't be charged, but wouldn't put it past them to try it anyway.
Didn't realise that as soon as I used my PAC code (have now transferred to Giffgaff - not very impressed so far, but that's another story), I wouldn't be able to view online billing! Vodafone, seeing as you specifically asked me NOT to cancel my direct debit until I receieve my final bill after using the PAC, how am I supposed to check my charges, if any?
You can be damn sure I'll be checking my bank account VERY carefully over the next few weeks!
*sigh* What an absolute farce. The sooner I'm completely free of this bunch of cowboys, the better...0 -
Interesting comments over on the VF forum, seems there's one or two people now ringing round everyone that's sent a letter in offering extra data and possibly new handsets as "sweeteners" to stay. Unfortunately I think it's too late for many who have been annoyed with how they've been dealt with so far.0

there's a post on maemo.org claiming that Vodafone are poised to set everyone loose on 1st Oct. There is no source listed. The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits0

^^ Its true mate.
THey jsut rang me after I sent my letter in demanding to be allowed to leave without an etf or i would take legal proceedings.
THey offered me 3 options
1. Just leave, no fees, no nothing, keep phone
2. Leave and get PAC code too (which they already have prepared incase you choose option!)
3. Upgrade for free to new data plan allowing 1.5gb of data per month, monthly cost slashed by 45%
I choose option 2 as I told him im just fed up with vodafonoe and how they have dealt with everything. The guy was very friendly and understanding. Gave me my pac code there and then.
He said he has a list of people to contact.0 -

This may explain why I had about 5 calls from Vodafone between using my PAC and it being activated. Not that I wanted to talk to them, so I didn't answer any of the calls0 -
I cancelled my contract and had the fee waived and moved to a rolling 30 day contract. I received two phonecalls from different people at vodafone trying to persuade me to take out a new contract.
The second guy's phonecall went like this. I'd swear he was mildy !!!!!!:
VF rep: "I'm sorry you are leaving vodafone, do you mind me asking why you have decided to leave"
Me: "Well I havent left exactly I have just been released from my 24 month contract which is now cancelled and have now moved to a rolling 30 day contract"
VF Rep: "Is there anything we can do to convince you to stay with vodafone?"
Me: "Well like I said I haven't left really, I have just moved to a different type of contract ".
VF Rep: "Is there anything we can do to convince you to stay with vodafone?"
Me: "Umm...... I dont want to take out another 24 month contract if thats what you are asking"
VF Rep: "OK thank you. Goodbye."0 -

I am so glad I have found this thread. I have posted another about this matter in the forum.
I am with Vodafone and am really annoyed about the scrapping of the fair usage policy and introducing a charge.
It means my bill goes up from £35 to £40 per month.
I have had a text message saying I will be charged and I have phoned, emailed and written (recorded signed for) saying I am not happy and have been ignored.
I am disgusted that the notification was by text and I did not get a proper letter through the post warning me of this. If I did not go over my limit I would have been totally unaware of the charge should I end up going over the limit from October.
How have you guys got anywhere with this?
I am now thinking to just stop the direct debit and forget about them but they will default me I guess.0
