  • I got a message before stating that im near my limit of the 500mb and if i go over i will get charged etc. x
  • Just copying and pasting this here as i have a feeling it will be deleted from the eForum;
James - i suspect that you won't answer this, but it's worth a try.

Vodafone do give out PAC codes without letters having to be written. Emails could be sent, verbal requests for cancellation can and do work. Faxes even.

Why is it that a written request and ample details about previous data use are required.

I'd requested cancellation by email, my request has been received - so why does that not count?

Vodafone are obviously aware of my request. When speaking on the phone i have to confirm i am the account holder, and my email address is validated, as is my eForum account.

Why do i have to jump through hoops?

How about you give me a PAC, then look into my account, and then try and charge me an Early Termination Fee. I already have it confirmed by your colleagues on the web team, and the staff at the directors office that if you try and charge me then i can leave. You have sent me a text informing me that you will charge me.

I'd understand if you can't answer on the forum, but then you have my contact details, and in private communication you just point people back to the latest announcement.

Lastly, is it satisfying and fulfilliing working for Vodafone at the moment? Maybe think about a move over to BP in their PR and Marketing department?

I'm phoning 191 now, and requesting my PAC. If they inform me of a charge i'll simply tell them to take me to court to collect it.
  • Vodafone seem to have changed my price plan WITHOUT my consent. From the 500MB (FUP) on my account they have upgraded me to the 1GB which I have categorically rejected in the past a few times. I shall be calling them first thing on sunday and following that up with a formal complaint letter. Like many im in the middle of ending my agreement due to out of bundle so such backhanded tactics really affects outcome.
  • Guys look at this for a reply! I asked for an update as to why I hadnt received a reply to my letter to leave and this is what I got.

    Hi Mark,
We have made some changes to the messages in the system since last month. All out-of-bundle messages for VMI domestic customers that relate to charging have been removed and customers will not be automatically charged for going over their bundle allowance.

Instead, you will receive a text alert at 150%, 200% and 250% to tell that you have exceeded your allowance, and that a price plan / bundle with a higher data allowance might be more suitable.

If you continue to break your allowance we will let you know that we have monitoring your data usage and ask you to choose one of the following options:

Upgrade to a higher data bundle / allowance e.g. CTR5 1GB price plan

    Upgrade to a tethering bundle

    £10 for 1.5GB

    £15 for 3GB

If you are persistently over your data allowance will be alerted by the credit team that you'll need to pay over next month at published rates of:

£5 per 500mb for bundle customers

    50p per 25mb for non-bundle customers

I've noticed that 500 MB data allowance is active on your contract for mobile number 077********, which is effective from 1st January 2010.

Regarding cancelling the contract without ETF (Early Cancellation Fee).

It all depends upon the your monthly usage, if your usage remains the same and your bill is increased by 5% upto 10% every month, then we will first check the usage for last three months and if the usage remains same and there is increase in charge by 5% to 10%, then you can go ahead and can cancel the contract without any ETF.

    Trust this helps.

    Kind regards,

How does this help? They didn't even answer my question! Really doing my head in now tbh!

Vodafone have to give us at least 14 days notification of any changes - they have done so by sending me a text 3 weeks ago stating I will charged £5 for every 500MB I use over my contracted 500MB(FUP). Charging will be introduced on 1st October.
IF Vodafone are now saying the above about 150%, 200% usage, then surely there should be a notification of at least 14 days before 1st Oct to null and void the previous announcement...otherwise charging still commences on 1st Oct. (hope i made sense there)
  • What did the manager do about it? I phoned 191 as soon as i read email but all busy!! Im being called back at 9am tomorrow.

I never actually spoke to a manager. I asked the first time, was told to hang on, and then 10 minutes later the guy came back and said his manager had authorised him upgrading me to 1GB a month from 500mb a month for an extra £5 a month which I obviously said was ridiculous since this was already been offered for free and was not what I was asking for anyway, I then again insisted that I wanted to speak to his manager and he went away for 5 mins and returned to say his manager would call me back the next day. The next day the same guy called me back (not his manager) and said they had to agreed to waive my early termination fee.

So while I never spoke to the manager, insisting on talking to one was what got the result.
  • LOL following reading that some people have had their account changed i just tried to login to check my login at My Account and i can no longer log in.
  • Hi all,

I would like to thank all the posters in this thread. I have been lurking on here for a while, reading all the replies. Taking in all of the posters experience and tips on how to cancel.

After two phone calls, and an email, I have been released by Vodafone from my contract (I was around 6 months in, on a 24 month contract). I am waiting for my PAC to arrive, so until them I am holding my breath.

The first phone call didnt do anything, and was told by the operator, that they will request my original call where I took out the contract. The second call, was to see how far the request had got, and low and behold, there was no request showing on my account. The second call also managed to get my package upgraded to a 1GB data allowance - something that I rejected. I was then told if I wanted to cancel, I could do so over the web - just log into my account on the vodafone website.

I cobbled together an email, and sent it of. Got a reply from customer care and the director office - both saying I had to write in, with proof to their Newbury address. 24 hours later I got an email from the webforum team, saying I have been released from my commitment and they will send me my PAC code :T :T

So thanks to all here for their help. If you want me to post a copy of my email, then ask and will - its nothing special really.

Again thanks to you all - your the one who did the hard part for me.
  • Sounds like you were one of the lucky ones.

Fingers crossed my PAC will arrive shortly, i will pay any outstanding line rental up till when it gets used, and then i will be free of Vodafone.

I very much doubt i will ever be a Vodafone customer again, but should i risk it then i'll just have to be a dofficult customer and confirm everything in writing at each and every stage.

Doubtful that i would risk it though LOL

  • Just got a call from vodafone. They gave me my PAC code, after asking me why I wanted to leave. I asked the chap, if I would be charged for leaving early. He said that I was out of contract, so there was no charge.

    :j :j

Again, thanks to all on here that have helped. Think I will move over to a sim only contract, until the HTC Desire HD comes out.
