No that message wouldn't allow you to cancel Imr4n, this is what everyone has been getting over the past three months or so. It is only when you get the message stating the amount of £5 will be charged when you can write in to cancel.
I have submitted my cancellation letter by email to the Director's office, to Web Relations and the CEO's office; additionally I am following it up by sending a copy by recorded delivery post so I have evidence as knowing Vodafone I think we all know this whole unlimited internet has left many loose threads all over the place.
Pity really as I was enjoying my unlimited internet, now I will have to find a replacement deal.0 -
Thanks CitySlicker.
After how many months was you getting the msg about the £5 charge? I have been getting the warning texts for 3 months.0 -
I have had three warnings like yours previously during June, July and August. My August one came about a week ago and was when I reached about 750Mb. The one which arrived today was when I had just hit 1Gb and is the first time I have had two messages in a month.0

Thanks, thats strange as i also have had warnings in June, July and August. Each month i have done over 2gb and have recieved 3 warning texts each month.
Hopefully i will get it soon.0 -
Have you had three for August then? It's entirely possible this new text is being sent as the standard warning but if you have had three in your current billing month I bet you won't get it until you go over on your next billing month now, Voda only send a max of three alerts in a month at set data limits (I think it is 750Mb, 1Gb and 1.25Gb but it is on the forum if you search and are desperate to find the exact limits).0
-
Yes, already had 3 this month. So its unlikely that i will get another now. Hopefully next month.
Maybe others users can say what warning they are recieving?0 -
I used about 1.2Gb and then 750Mb over last 2 months, but no warning texts at any point. Wondering, if I truly am on an unlimited plan then!:DSAY NO TO INJUSTICE !

This I'm not sure, are you certain about the amount of data being used? I have copied and pasted my usage from the unbilled section of my bill on the website to see how it compares with my phone counter and it is almost exactly correct but some handsets report how they use data differently.
The other thing, and whilst unlikely I have wondered, the people who have been most vociferous in attacking Vodafone have they been identified and purposely left alone to trap them?
I don't know exactly what is going to happen come October when the charges are introduced, but one thing I know is pretty certain anyone exceeding 500Mb once will be warned with this new message. Let's say that is a deterrent enough for a person to curtail their usage for the next month, but then the month after they go over again. Bang there goes a charge, plus no right to cancel as if you compare the final month with the previous month it demonstrates you heeded the warning.
Even though this looks like the beginning of the end to this story now some of us can cancel, I think the saga will continue for quite some time yet and the first sign of any problems will be a wave of people saying 'Vodafone are refusing to let me cancel.'0 -
Has anyone else recieved the new warning msg saying that they will get charged?0
-
I haven't. My use has varied significantly, but always over 500mb. I have simply received the text saying please contact customer services, but nothing about any charges.
I very much doubt i ever will, as Vodafone will have to let me out of my contract if they do notify me 14days in advance of any new charges, and i have it in writing that at that point i can leave without penalty.
As such i'm not a betting man, but £50 says they won't bother warning me of actual charges and notify me, as they will simply lose the monthly fee for the 6+ months of the remainder of my contract. It's that simple.
They will however keep notifying people, and may try to charge some. Chances are if anybody kicks up a fuss they will retract the charges. You'd be amazed how many people will just roll over and pay without questionm or who will move over to the 1024mb hard cap.
Stand your ground and they cannot charge you without letting you cancel without penalty.0
