Right, after emailing the ceo's office I got a call back. Theyve offered me a pretty decent deal on reduced line rental for a few months, as recognition of the misselling, and kept the offer open for me to change internet packages in the future.
Fair play then, we got there in the end. I havent got what I was sold and have had a big runaround but I feel the recompense was adequate, and am otherwise happy with the Vodafone network, which seems a lot more reliable than Orange's.
In my last month I used the phone quite a lot and it was a fair bit under the 500mb limit. And I guess if they do want to charge me then I can keep the option to go up to 1 gig.0 -
I just received a new text this morning - like a few others I have been maxing out my data for the last 6 weeks or so (spotify!) just to see what Voda would do. Normally I get this text:
"You have exceeded your monthly 500MB data allowance. You may find a priceplan with a higher data allowance more suitable. Please call customer services for more information. To stop these messages Text STOP to 40506. You have not been charged. Sent AUG 11 @13:22 UK"
But just this morning I got a new one:
"From Vodafone: To let you know you're nearly at the end of your monthly data allowance of 500MB. If you need to use additional data there will be a charge of £5 incVAT per 500MB , however we won't start charging until 1 October 2010. To stop these alerts, text STOP to 40506 Sent AUG 14 @09:03 UK"
So, the question is, does this constitute the "notice" that they are changing the terms of my contract? And if so, what's the best play, assuming I want to quit the non-unlimited deal that was sold to me as unlimited?
Thanks!0 -
Just got this one too .... am going to try customer services ... though generally they don't understand whats going on - suppose you've got to start somewhere ... !
If several people are getting this it may liven this board up again!:cool:0 -
Just had a reply on the vodaforum:
"The text notification is to let you know that you are about close to using all of the data on your package.
Although the charges don't come into place until October, you would be able to write to us to request to cancel now.
All of the information around this is still available in the announcment and has just been updated."
So the above text is the trigger to cancel ....!!! :T
The mod originally thought this wasn't a reason to cancel .... so they do seem to be keeping up the company competency levels - so don't expect any advice from customer services - they seem to be completely out of the loop - just go ahead and cancel!0 -
Awsum! I'm going to slam my usage tonight to get over the 500MB and then await the holy grail text.0

Have you got a link to where it says this information? I have been getting these texts for the last 3 months, does that mean I can cancel?0

As far as I can see, you can only cancel once you get charged or you get the text saying that you will get charged. At moment all the texts that vodafone are sending are saying that you have not been charged.0

Cheers for that.
The only thing is that im getting different text messages from vodafone to those in that link. Im getting,
"you have exceeded your monthly 500mb allowance. You may find a priceplan with a higher data allowance more suitable. Please call customer services for more information. "0
