Tomorrow is the day, So far I have been told my the CEO assistant of VF that if we go over the 500mb limit we will receive a text telling us of this for the first and second month, the third month we will get the phone call offering us different tariff or being charged £5 for the next 500mb but also the option they wont present is to cancel your contract without charge because the charge will increase your bill my more than 10% so get your mobiles at the ready people and download as much as you can to reach these limits, in their own statements and t&c they will not and cannot charge you until you have had some communication saying that they will.

To get out of your contracts you will need to be above about 525mb every month for at least the next 2 months, I personally am going to hammer the internet with GBs to hopefully get their attention and get the final call sooner.

After I told Vodafone that I was never made aware of the 500MB limit from the website I purchased from and they are still advertising it as "Unlimited Internet... surf the web and use emails as much as you like for the full duration of your contract", (even now), they have responded thus:
Unfortunately, it is not possible for all retail outlets to go through all terms and conditions verbally when you purchase your contract. I appreciate that you were unaware that you had 500MB limit, and I apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Forget verbally - they didn't even send them in writing - just a link to the T&Cs, which does not specify a 500MB limit, simply a reference to "excessive use".

if its not in the T&C, its not in the contract... We signed whatever was in the contract (written) .. they cant expect us to know their whole company policies

Vodafone themselves seem to be ignoring company policy:
    Clear Pricing
Transparent and clear pricing is an important part of our relationship with customers, helping to ensure their satisfaction and loyalty.
We have improved the clarity and transparency of our pricing across our markets by introducing simpler price plans, and making tariffs more predictable and flexible. We have redesigned bills to help communicate the new price plans more clearly.

Then you look at the T&C's

"we reserve the right to: (a) charge you for the excessive element of your usage at your price plan's standard rate"

Has anyone managed to track down the holy grail and actually seen the "standard rate" listed anywhere at all on the vodafone site?

Be interesting to see if it appears at the stroke of midnight...

I thought I would jump on the bandwaggon with this.

So. My current usage is 147MB and is due to reset on 7 June 2010.

If I start fleecing it by using Tethering will they know? Tethering will soon suck up my 500MB allowance

Nexus One User Here (pleased to help out) - Not an HTC Desire owner!

BUT I am actually on a 500MB limit as my faulty Dnesire was replaced by a N1 and the contract remained the same.

I notice on here it says "Say hello to 30,000 apps", I wonder how much data it would use to install them all?

Also says "You can download over 30,000 apps straight to your phone"

I have been trying to get Vodafone to confirm this for me, but they seem to keep pointing me in the wrong direction...

The latest link they provided was http://www.vodafonebusinessshop.co.uk/PricePlansCallCharges.html

For some reason I am on a "Your plan for small business" agreement with 750 mins. As far as I can work out, the charges in that link only apply if you do not have 'Unlimited' mobile internet as part of your package. I have said this in response and am currently awaiting a reply.

Just had a live chat (names have been changed to protect the incompetent):

    blah blah blah.......
You: that mentions unlimited internet but the advert on the vodafone site says 500mb?
xxx: yes as we have changed that
You: and that is from january? so before the change i guess? I'm worried about getting stuck in a 24 month contract where i cannot use the phone for 10 days a month (going on last months usage)
xxx: well to be honest only 3% of our customers reach the limit of 500 MB with the entire vodafone UK customer base as per the report generated by us on 1st of may 2010
xxx: so be assured it is lot
You: but how many of those customers have data heavy handsets, i've just seen another thread on the eforum about the 500mb limit and lots of desire users are saying they are worried about this?
xxx: be assured as per the new data plans which will b e intorduced on the same price plan we will be turning all the smartphone allowance from 500 mb to 1 GB
xxx: I am not supose to disclose it but its for you
    You: thanks
    xxx: and
xxx: if you order now you can upgrade the same plan which is 500 mb now to 1 GB after the effect takes place i can assure you that as we will be going to do that
xxx: so if you order be assured you will get 1 Gb data on desire
