if you think you can prep talk his swimmers and make sure your flawless egg travels on time and your body doesnt reject the cells and the cells dont reject you etc etc etc then go for it!

Ours is unplanned but my OH is a teacher, it just works out that she'll be off for the summer holiday during her heaviest weeks of pregnancy and then we'll end her maternaty leave just intime for the next summer holiday so we'll get full pay for the last 6-8 weeks too. Also it will be one of the eldest in its year and will be an autumn baby. Not planned but pretty good timing if all goes well.

or you could just enjoy the whole thing like i've already said! be happy that your life is without problems and your both healthy and enjoying each other. Dont wish your life away :)

From an academic viewpoint it's best to have a child between Sept and Dec because then they'll be one of the older kids in their year-group at school and will probably find the work a bit easier. They also often start the reception class a bit ahead of their younger class-mates and so will prob get a bit more one-to-one time with the teacher in their first term.

Also seem to recall the above stands with regard to sporting ability.
I think last year at one point 80% of the England football team were born Sept to December and the only one born April to August was Frank Lampard whose DOB disadvantage was countered by the fact his Dad was a professional footballer who has played at the highest level.

Cant remember where I read it but remembered it as the results were very clear.

i agree with the previous post about boys born towards end of school year are more likely to struggle.

My son had only been 4 for 6 weeks when he started school ( he born end middle of july). and although he is very very bright and clever he is struggling bless him with writing. he just simply can't hold a pencil very well. doesn't help he is also left handed so does struggle. but his teachers have picked up on where he needs a bit of extra help and are giving him the full support he need's.

When I was at primary and secondary school, I was in a close group of 8, girls and boys, and by coincidence all our birthdays were June-August. We were always in the highest 'sets' for subjects while many of the oldest kids, in primary especially, were middle to bottom.

So while generally older kids in the school year are apparently said to be brighter (something which I admit I only heard on this forum over the past few years and never heard in 'real life'!) it certainly isn't always the case. I never noticed it at all when I was at school. (I'm 30 now)

I'm a fan of March (see sig :))

Because it's getting much lighter in the mornings, and you get through the horribly early morning/middle of the night feeds stage whilst the early feed is with it being light outside, which makes a world of difference to my mood :)

Whenever they arrive is the best month.

We planned a Sept/Oct baby. 3 years after that plan, an August baby arrived. We were so happy to meet him by then, the month was completely irrelevant. 5.5 years on, he's the brightest in his class by far (not just proud parent saying this btw!) and as a primary teacher I can say with some experience home input is far more relevant to a child's academic life than their month of birth.

Could not agree with the above poster any more.
I too am a primary school teacher and got some stick from my colleagues when they found out I was expecting an August baby. Not planned like that BTW!!!

My son is now in Reception and is one of the brightest in his year group. Home input (and good genes!!) is far more important to a child's education that their month of birth. He was more than ready for school this year and would have been bored by another year at preschool.

Also agree with the comments made about those TTC - any baby is a gift and some ladies would give their right arm...

I am a Christmassy baby, which has never been much fun, so wait another month or so and then you should miss all that!

Ha ha, I tried that trick - and then DS decided to arrive five weeks early on Boxing Day!! My worst nightmare!!! And in four birthdays so far no-one has dared buy him a joint present!! Having said that, it had it's upside in that he got an extra term of funding for a nursery place and started school a little bit sooner than he would otherwise have done (sounds shallow but important for a working parent!).

And flame me now..... One of my friends has two children, one August and one September. She was paying for childcare as she was working part time and found that with the September baby she had to pay for a whole extra year's childcare as she was born six days into the school term so missed it by that much. Something which she avoided with the August baby (and I'm fairly certain she didn't plan their conception with that in mind or anything). Also her August child is (she says) far more academic than her September child which knocks that old theory on the head. Personally if I was to have another child, and taking childcare into consideration, I would attempt to have a July/August child (but I'm living proof that these things don't always go to plan!).

DD/DS's school have what I think is a better system of school entry which avoids the younger children lagging behind - they have all the children starting full time on the September after they are 3 (this doesn't find favour with everyone on here, but the school is the only oversubscribed school in town ..... and it's way way oversubscribed!) and they are split into two classes, oldest and youngest, and that's how they stay throughout the school. DS (Boxing Day boy!) is in the older group and DD (April - good choice!) is in the younger group. What it means is that they all benefit from full-time contact with the teachers from the off, not just the older ones. Personally I couldn't hack the faffing about with taking them for a couple of hours at at time anyway. Not that I knew this when I chose the school - just happy co-incidence!!

And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end

I wanted an early summer baby but I lost that one :( so I got a July baby and it was fine. to be honest, I'd just get on with it. I am a January baby and so is OH and we hate January birthdays as noone ever has any money to go out and it's always raining, so we were aiming for warm months, but after the miscarriage I'd have had one any day if it meant I got one. Don;t stress it too much.
