When is the best month to have a baby?

My Husband and I have decided to start trying for a baby! YAY!:j
I've just turned 28, we've been married for 2 years and have decided now is as good a time as any!
What I would like to know is when is the best time of year to have a baby? Obviously I know it might take a while to conceive but I'd like to know what experiences people have had being heavily pregnant or coping with a newborn at different times of year.
So, to my question, what month was your baby born and did you have any season related problems? I'm thinking that being 6-9 months pregnant in the summer would be very uncomfortable, am I wrong?
Thank you in advance for any input

Approximately 9 or 10 months from when you conceive. ;-)0

From experience not December (well 13th Dec onwards i would say) too close to Christmas and most people just end up forgetting about your birthday/Christmas pressent - obviously not as a child but certainly as an adult.
When i eventually try for a baby - i woud like March-September (so conc in June-January).Using my phone to post - apologies in advance for any typos0 -
The oldest children in each year group tend to do better at school than the youngest ones so you could aim for for late September/October and hope baby doesn't arrive early!0

Ah, whenever you have a baby it'll be wonderful, try not to get hung up on when it happens.
I know a lot of people are keen to avoid right before September as they don't want their child to be the youngest in the year.
My DS was born on 12th Dec and it does feel a little too close to Xmas but it's no big deal really.0 -
Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could choose the month we would like to give birth in!
I would just enjoy the trying to get pregnant part and not worry about which season suits! It wil totally depend on what sort of pregnance you have as to how well or badly you cope with it.
My eldest two were both born in June which was a lovely time to have them as they could spend a lot of time in the pram out in the garden, My youngest was born in January, so have carried throughout the whole year and I didn't encounter any 'seasonal' problems and was lucky enough to never had to go through he experience of morning sickness.
All the best to you, and I hope you don't have to wait too long to get a positive test result!0 -
I was 28 years old when I had our Son and was born in June. An advantage of having a Summer baby is that I was able to take him out in the pram almost everyday for a walk, but I don't really think it makes a difference what time of year you have a baby as it's not something that you can really plan for, unless you conceive in the first month of trying.
The only advice I can give, is if you are starting to try for a baby, you need to take folic acid everyday, ideally 3 months before you start trying.0 -
some time between January and December I found..
I like my summer babies best.. it was lovely not to have to smother them with clothes and blankets and you could take them out and show them off.. My new one will be a summer baby too I can't wait!
Just adding.. mine were born in January, March, 2 in July, September, 2 in November and one in December.. and this one looks set to be another July, though he is due August..
My July ones are amongst the top 5 in their year at school and have been since they started.. the month they are born does not change their potential so long as they get a good education it makes no difference whatsoever.. when it comes to their exams they will be too bothered about appearances, going out and what they look like to revise!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
very hard to say. there will be some who say try in jan so your baby ( if u fall straight away ) will be due sep/oct time then they be oldest in the school year. others say never fall nov time as your baby will be born july/aug time so yoru child is youngest in yr.
for me i had a child in oct. the first few months when i felt groggy feb/march/april time the weather was cool and nice. but as i got bigger by aug when we had the hottest day when it got to 107 i felt like an oven. but when born in oct i could snuggle my new born up and keep he nice and warm in the cold weather so that was nice. my other son born july. nice time of year as born in summer so he didn't need to be bundled up with coats and blankets all the time. and i wasn't pregnant at the height of the summer. My third child born april. preg all through the winter so didn't ever feel fat and frumpy. and as the weather was warming up my pregnancy was near the end.
for me i enjoyed being preg over the winter and having a spring baby.
however with my next pregnancy i'd love to be preg through the winter again.0 -
Mine were April and October...as others have said the school thing can be a biggie, July/August babies are only just turned 4 when they start school. My October one meant I was quite pregnant during a hot summer which was hard work, especially as I had a 2.5 year old to look after. Many mums to be feel the heat more so a summer pregnancy isn't always fun. April was lovely, the weather turned nice just as he was born so got lots of time outside with him in the sunshine.0

Personally, I have 3 LOs and another on the way, and I have much preferred being pg through the winter.
I have two 'winter' babies (born February and March), and a summer baby (born July.) The hot flushes were awful, the nights were terrible, trying to get comfy whilst being irritatingly sweaty, plus I remember DD2 (my July baby:)) being born on an incredibly sweltering summer's day. It wasn't too bad until we were getting ready to leave hospital and she had pretty much only a babygrow on when we popped her in the car seat to take her home. Add to that she was three weeks late and I'd been carrying round a rather large bump for three summer weeks' longer than I'd expected!
I remember breastfeeding being a real panic as I kept stressing if she was 'drinking' enough - of course you do anyway with a small baby when it's hot but with her being newborn I worried more!
The other thing which isn't directly related to pregnancy and birth is that my summer baby will be amongst one of the youngest in her class when she starts school.
My winter babies were dressed up to the nines in layer upon layer plus blankets - I always worry at nights if they're warm enough as very young babies can't regulate their own body temperature and so you have to be careful not to go over the top and inadvertently get them too hot instead.
This baby is due late September so I'll have the joy of another summer being 'quite' pregnant (LOL!)
Of course at the end of the day all these things I've mentioned were not great at the time but, well, you manage and they certainly haven't put me offDealing with my debts!Currently overpaying Virgin cc -balance Jan 2010 @ 1985.65Now @ 703.63
