Just got an email from my solicitor, we need to go in and sign the contracts. Still not an exchange date yet though which is strange. We need that to activate the life and home insurances.

Well done everyone on your progress. Comiserations wessex on having to pull out. I haven't posted in a few weeks as very little has happened.

My surveyor was brilliant, extremely knowledgeable, helpful and clear. The only significant thing to come up in the survey was a repair required, which the vendor has completed, and the surveyor is due to inspect tomorrow.

My solicitor is following up on some contradictory information within their property information form I received. Really hoping to exchange before the end of the month, to not pay another month's rent.

TonyR - your offer was accepted nearly exactly when mine was, so ours are progressing at similar speeds!

    Good luck everyone.

Whoohoo! No mention of stamp duty exemption in the budget, I bet there are a few first time buyers like me very happy about that! That means we could be exchanging today or tomorrow, completing on Friday!

Sharon1982 and neas, you guys must be relieved too! Good luck with your completion on the 20th sharon!!

Thanks livalicious - very relieved, and excited about completing! Also pleased that VAT not going up straight away, which is good as about to buy furniture and carpets! :)

Good luck with exchange and completion - exciting times! :)

I've got next to no news at all - but wanted a little whinge - posted the cheque to Mortgage Co over a week ago, but they havent got it... So am going to have to leave work early, cos all the local branches shut at half 4 - and pay it again! And then get the branch to fax the proof to the mortgage dept... And theres me thinking everything is progressing nicely!
    Doh
Ps - well done to all those completing and exchanging - Am hoping I'll get there too one day!

I was listening like a hawk for the whole stamp duty exemption thing, pleased to hear no mention of it - but had bad news personally, as one person in my chain (I can't work out from the message whether its my buyer or my seller) doesn't want to complete till August 20th .... thats a *long* time away.
